Title: Component video
Post by: southpaw13 on August 29, 2004, 11:56:40 am
So how do you hook up a component video TV to a computer?  Are there any special video cards or a special converter?

Thanks for any help!

you need a video card that supports component output, (usually through a straight thru adapter), or you need to buy a vga>component transcoder.

I had no luck with the VGA to component transcoders.  Anyone know of a video card solution?

Here is a link to the ATI comparison page:

http://apps.ati.com/ATIcompare/

All of these supports "YPrPb Out for HDTV" which I believe is the same as component.  None are cheap and some require an adaptor.

This thread (on page 2) pretty much spells it out:

And you can add the Radeon 8500 to Monkeybomb's list, as well.  Relatively inexpensive card, not including the adapter, of course.
