Title: i feel foolish to ask this :p how do u crimp the quick connects?

as the title says, i feel foolish to ask this, as when i find out itll prolly be so obvious :D

anyways, i ordered the ipac2 from ultimarc and also the wiring kit that comes along with it (look at pic to see the tool).
i cant figure out how to crimp the quick disconnects on to the wires that were provided with the kit.

Stick a wire in the quick disconnect hole and then squeeze it shut w/ the crimping tool....(use the  part with the red dot on it.

i use the back part of the tool for some leverage.

I feel more foolish, I have been doing this for years and I have been using this part.

You both are right actually!  :-)

  The top part of the tool with the Red, Blue, and Yellow Dots are for Insulated connectors.  The back part of the tool is for NON-Insulated connectors.

  If you crimp an insulated connector with the non-insulated part, it will still work, but you'll stand a change of destroying your plastic insulation.

If you don't have a REAL crimping tool, Vise Grips will work pretty well--as long as you are careful how you do it.
You just have to be careful not to mess up the plastic part too much, and you may need to squeeze it a bit sideways first to roll the metal part up a bit inside depending on the actual wire size used.
The goal, regardless of the looks of the finished product, is to get a secure crimp on the wire--so that you won't have problems with it down the road.

crimp pliers are normally HEAPS cheaper than visegrips. id recommend investing in some. you dont need an expensive pair...

  Absolutely, if you don't have a pair head on over to HOme Depot or Lowes, radio shack, wall mart I think may even have them in their automotive dept.

  I think Home Depot's most expensive pair of crimps, with a nice cooshy comfy handle is $8.  Their cheapest pair is like $4 (the same pair you get with Ultimarc's wiring kit).  Both pairs work just as well, it's just the more expenvie pair has a bit better feel to them if you're doing a *LOT* of crimping.

  Vise Grips will run you anywhere from $10 for a real cheapo pair, up to $25 - $35 bucks for real vise-grip brand or craftsman....  Snap-on and Mac tools can run you up to $60 if you want the ability to have then hand delivered to you in a big Snap-on or Mac tools truck.
