It appears I am going to need to shift gears a bit on the Moon Patrol Project:

I am running ArcadeOS with Dos Mame and it appears I just don't have the video config granularity I need to get consistent results.  What I have been advised to do is switch to Advanced Mame.  To that end I have some general questions before I make the switch.  If anyone can chime in with some input on any or all issues I would greatly appreciate it.

Ok, Here goes -

1.  Can I use arcadeOS with advanced mame or MUST I use advancemenu?

(Yes)

4. How do I determine these settings for my advmame.rc file based on my monitor?

Answer: Use the advcfg.exe utility.  Pretty self explanitory.

device_video_pclock
device_video_hclock
device_video_vclock

5. How do I enable sound?  I have sound working in DOS, ArcadeOS, and DMAME, but it doesn't come on in AdvanceMAME?

Answer: set the option in advmame.rc, "device_sound seal/sb"

"seal" is the driver (must bi internal to advmame or in the advmame dir as I never loaded anything).

the option "/sb" denotes soundblaster.

I found this info in the "advdev.txt" file.  Look there for other options.

Also, during runtime (gameplay) you can hit the "~ ' " key to adjust volume (range = -40 to 0, 0 being the highest volume) with the arrow keys.

Saw this in another thread, just adding it here as I used it to get rid of the nags-

Do you have this line in your advmame.rc file

misc_quiet yes

6. ArcadeOS cannot find roms????

I have edited the arcadeos.cfg and advmame.rc until my eyeballs hurt from the blue dos edit window.

All my paths reflect reality, but since I have migrated files/roms/samples/etc from c:\mame to c:\advmame - Arcadeos cannot or will not list the roms??  Is there a file I need to regen or what?

I got arcadeos to display the rom names but only by
the dos name.  Also, "gameinfo" has no info.  On a whim I just tried copying
xml2info.exe into my advmame dir.  No change.
