Title: Galaxy Cabinets
Post by: Shogun on August 27, 2004, 02:02:10 pm
Does anyone have any experience with these:

Someone is trying to put together a group buy to save on shipping and I am interested in this cab. Are these good cabs? Can it be used in a mame project? Is it six buttons per player? I know the description says 14 push buttons but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks.

I really love those japanese sit down cabs.  I've always been partial to the Neo Candy 29, but I don't see how that one could be much different.  I'm only familiar with the Neo which is 4 buttons per player, but really, if you MAME it... it doesn't matter.  If you want more buttons, drill them out and put them in.  You'll have to interface your controls anyway, so a few more buttons aren't going to make a big deal.

I would think you could physically FIT the buttons on there, which would be your only real obstacle, so I don't think you'd you have a problem.

Does this machine actually come WITH a 25" monitor or is it FOR a 25" monitor?

Comes with....and is it possible to even drill holes for new buttons? I thought they were made out of steel. 'm still unsure about ordering overseas though. The whole process could take a while. Dont these things have to sit in customs for a while?

BTW my fav sit down Ive come across so far is the Egret.

Don't forget that it costs a fortune to import stuff like that by plane, so most likely it must be shipped by a "slow boat tofrom China".  ;D

Best and easiest way to get one of those is to simply search around and find a west coast distributor that already orders containers from them, and pay in advance to get one in their next shipment. Figure on easily forking out $700-$900 total.

It should already have all the buttons you will ever need, of course you can drill more, but there is no reason to do so.

those cabs look great for the price. the monitor alone would probably cost as much. i wonder if theres a singapore agent. freight might just be viable to australia...

edit: just realised they are sit-down. not quite reliving the eighties experience then  :(

I have a Super Neo 29 sitting in front of me. They are so much smaller than you would ever imagine them to be. If you want to stand then it would be cake to build a base for one to sit on.

Btw, I literally have a Super Neo 29 sitting in front of me, I am outside my apartment typing on my laptop, guarding my new Super Neo 29 until someone can come over to help me carry it upstairs.
