Title: Playstation to usb problems
Post by: Squirrely on August 27, 2004, 01:49:09 am
I have a playstation to usb adapter that seems to do something weird.  It registers up, down, left, and right but not when you press up and down at the same time or left and right at the same time.  I have it hacked and going to a dance pad so I need to be able to register both directions simultaniusly.  Has anyone else had this problem with adapters and if so, how can it be fixed?  Can I expect the same anoyance when going from Playstation to xbox?

I think that is a common problem with some types of the USB adapters.  However, this USB one will work w/ DDR:

It is indeed a common problem and it is device dependent. Easiest way to fix it is to buy a new adapter I'm afraid - usually the ones that work with dance mats specifically say so.

Some PS->USB adapters have a dance mode that maps the d-pad axes to button presses, allowing simultaneous up/down or left/right presses.  You have to hold start+select+up on the controller for three seconds to enable this mode.

stepmania.com has a list of working and non-working ps->usb adapters.
