Title: Help with connector from IPAC to Opti-Pac for power
Post by: roybfr on August 25, 2004, 11:13:07 pm
I need to know what kind of connector I need to look for in order to connect 5v and gnd on the ipac to the optipac. I bought an optipac USB but can't seem to find the USB cable the should have come with it, so I am going to hook it up via serial cable. Since I bought a USB unit I did not get the power connector. Does any one have a picture of what they look like? Is it similar to the connectors used on an ATX case for the power switch, msg ligts ect?

See graphic here for pin locations:

ATX Case connectors would be perfect, or a CD Audio cable would work well also.

I have the same issue, and wondered if Andy would sell those separately.  Haven't got around to emailing him yet though.

Yeah reading though the docs on the CD I saw which pins are power and ground. I was trying to find out where to get that type of connector. I am going to look at Radio Shack as onw of the guys here at work said they usually have a good assortment of those types of connectors.

If you want the CD audio cable, www.newegg.com will have them (but you would want to combine with something else to save shipping), but any computer repair shop or major computer parts house (CompUSA, Micro Center) should have them.  Lots of geeky types have a bunch b/c they don't wear out and every new CD drive comes with one.

Me too! (I didn't mean anything negative by it.)

those things really come in handy when you want to wire a jumper to a button, eg the power jumper on the mobo to a button on your cab..
