Title: help installing ps2 into mame cabinet
Post by: alexbpb on August 24, 2004, 07:31:34 pm
hello everyone, as a first time poster i'd like to say thank you to the entire byoac community for all your help with my mame cabinet project.

ive completed my mame cabinet and was wondering, if i wanted to add a playstation2 to the  cabinet, is it possible to wire the ps2 pads to the arcade controls if theres is already an ipaq wired to the controls?  would there be a conflict?  and also, is there some kind of pre-soldered kit with wires already soldered onto a ps2 pad? (i have no experience with soldering and dont trust myself to even try) if not, i would be willing to pay a byoac member any costs for parts/labor in making me such a kit. thanks for any and all help in advance, and hope to hear from you guys soon thanks!

check out the consoles forum for a lot of ps2 info.
i am not sure, but i believe snaake still may be selling prewired dualshocks for ps2 hacking..

What I plan on doing (a friend of mine did this and it works great), is to use the XArcade decoder for my arcade cabinet.  They sell adapters for $20 each for every recent console system.

I'm not sure if you could get their decoder separatly or not (I currently have an XArcade that I'm going to canabalise).  It would certainly be worth a shot.

My friend has his PC, PS2, PS1, and Dreamcast all hooked up to his machine.  It works great.
