hi,
I was looking at the Ultimarc T-Stik Plus Ball-Top and the J-Stik (Japanese) Ball-Top joysticks and was wondering if anyone's had any experience with either of these two and what their thoughts are on them both. Which do you think is better? Also, does anyone know if they are leaf-switch or micro-switch?
Thanks,
Dave

They are both microswitch sticks.
The biggest difference between them is feel.
The T-stiks are short throw, and tight feel.
The J-stiks are long throw, and loose feel.
The other big difference is that the T-stik can be switched from 4-way to 8-way without having access to the bottom of the control panel.
The J-stik can't.

i just bought 2 x j-stiks for my cab and I really like them.
you can adjust the "feel" a little by turning over the restrictor plate, which can alter the throw a bit. they are 4/8 was adjustable, from underneath., as well.
at first, I did find myself hitting the diagonals too easily in 8 way mode (which played hell with my robotron firing) but you can adjust the microswitch levers carefully with pliers to adjust when the switches "switch". tweaking this slightly has improved this aspect no end. and it now performs as I expected.
i understand you can make it stiffer by pulling out the spring and stretching it a little as well. (ouch - that sounds odd when I write it down ;) )
They seem very well built and solid, and are comfortable to use.
I have no experience of the t-stik to compare, but I would recommend, for sure.

Without having tried either, I am leaning towards getting the T-Stik, because it apparently has a firmer, shorter range.
However, as the ball-top is an optional extra (and costs almost as much as the standard T-Stik or J-Stik), I'm still debating whether to go for T-Stiks (or Plus) or the J-Stik ball-top.
It's a shame that the T-Stiks don't come with the ball-top as standard :P

if you're into fighters and dont need to switch between 4/8 way suggest J-Stick - it is a great dedicated 8 way.
personally i want flexibility to switch 4/8way on my cocktail cab - so went for the tstick plus with balltop
the travel is no so far and is not so light in movement.
but the switching mech from 4 to 8 way is fantastic!

4-way on the J-Stik is great too...just a bit more tricky to adjust. Not a massive problem for me as I use swappable panels, so I need access under the CP to unclamp it anyway.
Obviously not as easy as the T-Stik Plus tho...
