Title: lexan issue?
Post by: mcdo15 on August 23, 2004, 11:17:35 am
hi, my local home depot doesn't sell the size of lexan i need, 48 wide by 18.  i was able to buy 2 24 by 18 peices.

wouldn't it be better to buy 1 peice of lexan (i would have to look hard for it)...or is the acrilyic (sp) just as good even know its less durable.

home depot next closest size is 90 bucks..they said they will cut it out but i don't want to buy all that...thanks

Acrylic is MORE durable than Lexan--in some aspects.

It is harder, and more scratch-resistant.
It also resists yellowing more than Lexan.

On the downside, it is less flexible and prone to shattering while being cut.

If you don't mind the extra hassle during fabrication, acrylic should give you longer life, and better long-term appearance, once it gets installed.
