Title: Mapping a mouse click to a button/key?
Post by: Xynie on August 20, 2004, 10:53:23 am
OK, I have been trying to figure this out for a while, and I don't know if I am searching with the wrong keywords or what, but I figure this has been addressed before.  I even went through the FAQ, and all I saw was... "Yep, I use a trackball as a mouse" :)

Anyways, I have a trackball I want to use as a mouse, which is working fine.  I do not however have left mouse click mapped to anything, which I need to do.  However, I can't find anything that will allow me to map a button on my CP to the left click... Is there a port of the Ipaq I missed?  Or is there a piece of software I have to use to emualte the click with a keyboard button?

Thanks for the help.

You don't map the mouse click in the I-Pac or it's programming software. You have to configure the specific emulator/game/program you're using to use the mouse buttons as actions.

So, in the case of Windows XP in my cabinet, the only choice is using the Mousekeys accessibility program?

Ahhh, I think I'm beginning to understand. You have a trackball but you have no physical mouse buttons connected to the trackball interface. You want to use a button connected to the I-Pac to simulate a mouse click for use in windows right?

Can you connect buttons to your trackball interface? (is there a physical location to make the connection)? You could disconnect 1 or 2 buttons from the I-Pac and connect them to the trackball interface instead. Then map the software/game/emulator to recognize mouse clicks instead of keystrokes for those buttons.
