Does anyone know where I can get chips for an outrun pcb?? Or someone that does repair for outrun? Only one I could find is Eldorado, and they want about $200 for the repair. The boards look like they are in good shape, just missing IC 17 - IC 40. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Patrick

You might be able to take a chance and get a dead outrun board and hope the chips that you want work. Best bet is to make 1 working board out of 2 non working boards. Or if you have a prom writer you might be able to make your own chips. How much are you willing to spend, I might be able to help you out?

two good ideas...I looked up the chips on line and found a place that has the blank chips (but no pricing available), but I of course do not have a prom writer. Are they expensive?? I am trying to do this inexpensively(trying to stay under my wife's radar).
Thanks for the ideas, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Do you have a writer?
Thanks again, Patrick

Unfortunately. I am missing 17 through 40. I got a quote of $12 a chip blank. So, at that price I would be better to send it out to eldorado for exchange(only $200). Is there anyone else out there doing repairs??? Or can get the chips cheaper?
Thanks, Patrick

Give me a week I might be able to figure something out for ya.

If you send me a list of chips, I got an EPROM burner and will be able to do you for real cheap.
You can also buy your own eprom burner on ebay for cheap and fix future PCB board.

We have a EPROM burner at work but I might be able to find you some actual chips or a board as well.

You guys are great ;D, I am not in a huge rush for this, so I can be patient. I will get a list of the proms I need, and which ever way works out will be fantastic.
Thanks again for the responses.

Here is a list of the chips I need:
IC 17 OPR10196 IC19 OPR10214
IC 21 OPR10197 IC23 10215
IC25 OPR10198 IC27 10216
IC29 OPR10199 IC31 10217
IC33 OPR10200 IC35 10218
IC37 OPR10201 IC39 10219
IC18 OPR10205 IC20 10223
IC22 OPR10206 IC24 10224
IC26 OPR10207 IC28 10225
IC30 OPR10208 IC32 10226
IC34 OPR10209 IC36 10227
IC38 OPR10210 IC40 10228
Let me know if these could be burned and how much you think it might be.
Tilzs: if you have the original chips on a board that has other problems thats cool too. Let me know, because I do not want both you and JoeB getting the same chips.
Thanks again for helping me save another classic

i believe that there are a few different sets of roms that need to be burned with the appopriate board.
ie: some boards are bootlegs, and need the bootlegs roms burned for them - else they do not work correctly.
I also need my outrun roms burned... however... i cant seem to understand which romset i need for my boards.
Any outrun experts willing to help?

That's not very helpful. :(
For example:
IC34 OPR10209
I need to know the actual memory chip type. E.g. 32 pin 27C1001 (1Mbit) with 150ns speed or faster EPROM. Also, some ROMs/EProms have different pinout. So the pinout needs to match as well (or otherwise, get ready to lift pins and run new wires!)
The chips are 28 pin. Pins are 3mm apart. The top reads:
SEGA
MPR-10377
831000-20
337 BK
8710 Z82
The under side says H2 in 1 circle, 1 blank circle.
I did a search for the chip # and I found one made bt Fujitsu 831000-20.
I could not find anything on the speed of the chip or any pinout info. If you know of a place to find it let me know and I will look it up.
Thanks, Patrick
