Hello-
I've searched around the forum but still have some questions I can't find answers to. First off, I want to let you know I am a Mac guy swapping out a Mac in my Cabinet for a PC so I can run a front end- MameWAH. I'm working with MAME 58 cuz I'm on a PIII 500. I have things setup pretty well aside from a few issues:
- how do I get my USB track ball and USB spinner to work in MAME? I tried setting the mouse to 1 in the config file but no luck.
- how can I soften up the video from MAME on a standard 19 " PC monitor? On my Mac, there was an ATI rage plugin that worked like a charm. I see there are some video filter options in AdvanceMame but I don't want to fiddle with AM unless I have to. I saw some pretty cool options in VisualBoy Advance like Super Eagle and such- Are there plugin or filtes like this for MAME?
- which NES emulator are people using successfully with MameWAH? I have FCE Ultra working well; but, the 1+2+ esc doesn't work cuz 1 and 2 seem to be load save state or something like that.
That all for now, I'm sure there will be more as I get further into the project of a new brain for my cab.
Take care.

1) mouse 1 should do it. As it has not worked make sure your mame.ini is being read/used (change something obvious, like hwstretch)
2) Use the 'effect' option. From www.mameworld.net/easyemu:
none - no effect (this is the default)
sharp - Stretch screen without blurring
scan25 - 25% scanlines
scan50 - 50% scanlines
scan75 - 75% scanlines
rgb3 - a certain "monitor mask"
rgb4 - another one
rgb6 - another one
rgb16 - another one. Choose the one you like best.
3) Why 1+2+Esc? Do you have an IPAC?

Hello-
Thanks a ton for the reply.
I'll try 1 and 2. The hardware stretch as an obvious way to check the ini file loading is a good idea.
For #3- I have an iPac but am working on the PC while the Cab is still running on a Mac so its not hooked up at the moment.
Thanks again.

OK, well IMO your are best off using Escape as the quit key for *all* emulators (most aren't actually configurable, thus the modified builds at screenshot archive). Then when you have your IPAC up & running, just configure P1 + P2 Start = Escape (it does this by default anyway). As long as you hold the shift key (1), then the '1' itself will not be sent by the IPAC, IIRC.

Hello-
After playing around for a while, I turned on Verbose moe and found that Mame 58 was looking for an ini file named "mamepp.ini"
I counldnot find any resources that actauly show what the various RGB modes do so I'll post what ends up working for me.
Thanks again
