I just got finnished routing out the spaces where my TB and joystick mounting plates will be going and I must say that I did a terrible job!
So, what can I do to fix this? There's gaps 1/16 or less on most sides of the mounting plates. What I'm thinking is to mount the plates the way that they're going to be, fill in the cracks with wood filler or maybe bondo since it will stick better to the metal and then sanding it all down before starting my painting all over again.
One problem that I'm seeing is that the T-stick will have to be mounted during all the sanding and painting because it holds the mounting plate down...
Anyways, does this sound like it's a good idea? Do you have any other suggestions?

I would start over, tape the bottom of the oversized hole with duct tape, fill in the top of the oversized hole with bondo, let it harden, then using your router and sander with 60 grit sandpaper have another go at it.
Bondo, it's like having a second chance :)

crashw, are you putting a overlay on your CP? If so, a 1/16 gap isn't really gonna be noticable underneath it.
