Title: Programmable PSX Adapter?
Post by: Zapper on August 19, 2004, 04:38:56 pm
Does a programmable PSX gamepad adapter for the PC exist? I'm looking for something like the N64 Adaptoid that lets you program the keys not just act as a regular PC gamepad. It doesn't have to suport dualshock either.

I don't see why you can't just buy a 3rd party psx pad that has programmable macro features (like the madcatz ones), and then use a normal PSX->USB converter.

I have a favorite gamepad that I've been using for years called the Alps gamepad. It's comfortable but looks like one of Batman's crime fighting tools.

im not all htat familiar with the adaptoid so i am not entirely certain of what you are asking.  i know there are drivers for the parallel port adapter that will allow you to remap the buttons.  you could also map gamepad buttons to keypresses with software..

The parallel port adapter sounds interesting, I've never built that kind of adaptor for a PSX gamepad before.

Maybe I should have posted this on the software board, sorry for the confusion. I'd like to be able to use a PSX gamepad with any game or emulator on a PC running Windows. Many games don't let you program the buttons the way I'd like so I was looking for an adaptor with software to program the keys, like keyboard encoder / adaptoid / microsoft sidewinder software.
