Having trouble ascertaining what to put in for the P, Horiz, and veritcal settings in AdvanceMAME video config...
****
P_LOW - P_HIGH - Pixel clock range in MHz The lower value is the lower clock generable by your video board. The higher value is the
video bandwidth of your monitor. If don't know these values you can start with `pclock 5 - 90' which essentially enable any video mode.
H_LOW - H_HIGH - Horizontal clock range in kHz
H_FIXED - Horizontal fixed clock in kHz
V_LOW - V_HIGH - Vertical clock range in Hz
V_FIXED - Vertical fixed clock in Hz
***
Here;s the info I have on my monitor... the hz and khz don't seem to match up... neither does the bandwith... suggestions???
1600X1200 NI Resolution @ 85Hz
230MHz Bandwidth
Horizontal Scan Frequency: 30-117Hz
Vertical Scan Frequency: 50-160Hz
Full edge to edge overscan
DDC1/2B Plug-N-Play
VESA DPMS Power Savings

the P isn't supossed to be over 90 so it can't be 230mhz... would it be 85Hz for bandwith otherwise known as the max refresh rate?
if the horizontal scan is 30 - 117hz why is advanceMAME expecting KiloHz?
Note the monitor settings above could be wrong, I found them listed on the auction where I got the monitor and could be BS.
Thanks for any advancemame/monitor insight.

why use advancemame for that monitor?
thats a very standard vga monitor... straight mame should do just fine
(btw, did you get that on the ebay auction that I brought up a month ago that ended up have people screaming at each other?)

Under ADVCFG.exe I would set it up as a standard multisync monitor. If that didn't work, I would set it up as the standard SVGA PC monitor. It has values for those, and that should make it work. I also think the Horizontal freq should be in Khz not hz. Check out this link very similiar to the specs you provided.http://www.kdsusa.com/product_detail.asp?prod=10 (http://www.kdsusa.com/product_detail.asp?prod=10) Note it states the same #s you stated, only with khz, not hz for horizontal freq. Hope this helps.

I did win one from that other thread... thanks for bringing the "deal" to the groups attention as i think it helped a lot of MAME cabinet people find reasonably priced monitors with a decent form factor for their cabs... even if it almost came to blows in that thread =P
I'm intrigued by the "auto" resolution picking in advanceMAME that based upon my vid card/monitor combo will select the most appropriate resolution for display on my screen.... They also have some fancier scanline faking and screen doubling options that might improve my VGA monitor arcade experience... *shrug*
Davestar, thanks for the heads up.. although I'm still unclear what to put in the bandwith section... i'll figure it out I guess, I just was hesitant to shlop values in there by making uninformed assumptions that the spec meant khz instead of hz(before I posted here, and saw your response that is... )
thanks.
