I am posting here to bring attention to this post : http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=7;action=display;threadid=23073
which describes the cool feature i found on another board i browse which is here : http://www.realcaraudio.com/forums/proarcade.php?action=arcade&s=
im not sure if you can see it without being logged in on the site. But basicly it has pacman, arknoid, space invaders, and tetris flash games. and you play them on the forum and when you finish it saves your high score to a ranking for the forum. so on the site we could have pacman score fights right on the boards! i think a board like ours based on classic gaming mainly and how to recreate them, should have this feature.
So basicly im asking you to vote to show the mods that there is a demand for this... im sure most of you would like this idea

if you post a No please state your reasons...
personally i see no reasons why an extra feature would be bad but please discuss
edit: also Gozur said in my other post he would help in the implementation of the arcade feature so it wouldnt be too much work for the mods. (Gozur is the man)

Keep in mind that the games and use are also potentialy requiring license ownership. Currently the V3arcade stuff I believe requires a license of sorts and is also only supported using VBBulletin v3.x and up. You can find more info here (http://www.v3arcade.com/)
Here's a screenshot for those that might not want to sign up for another board
But yeah it would be pretty cool.
It could be a problematic to work it into YaBB. But should work with any MySQL DB.

i'm not sure why people would vote no.... looks fun..if you don't want to play, don't play. i'm sure people will use it and it's nice to see forum names poping up someplace else
-
I think that would be an awesome feature! ;D
-
That would be totally cool! ::)

I like that idea too it is very cool.

who are these anonymous "no" voters. serisouly i want to hear why someone would say no i could not think of a reason. if u wouldnt play them u dont have to...
-
My first question would have to be, "Did the person who made the flash games purchase the licensing and distribution rights from the copyright owners to do this?". I have looked through the site and I can find no mention to whether this was done or not.
-
can you please move this back to the main board BTW... people actually read that board...

Are you like 12 or something? There are FAR too many issues with doing something like this.

I liked the idea. In fact, a few years ago I was thinking about implementing it in some sites I build myself (before I saw vbProarcade and such), but these days you can play these games almost everywhere. Why copy them again here? Besides, most of these games are "not so good", why play a clone if you can play the real deal with MAME?
-
OK I'll come out and admit I voted no.
Reasons:
#1 reason: VBproArcade is made for VBulletin forums. BYOAC uses YABB.
2. We can play these games elsewhere.
3. Web traffic might increase from people just coming to play the games and do nothing else, which would increase BYOAC's webmaster more money in bandwidth.
4. High scores WOULD be fun to compete for, but it's too easy to hack/cheat scores when it comes to Flash games.
:)

I voted no because I wouldn't want to hear all the crying when the high score boards all read

I voted no, because I think that I would rather see the moderators time right now, be put forth into revamping the entire BYOAC website. Saint has been quite busy gearing up to do this and it will happen soon here. It's a much needed 'renovation' of the content and layout of the site. Perhaps after that we can start looking into games on the site and stuff.

i'll have to sit on the fence on this one. there are good reasons for and against. biggest reasons against look like licensing and bandwidth. Paigeoliver, they can just multiply YOUR scores by 0.5 to give me a chance :)

I vote no for bandwidth and possible copyright issues. Also, I don't want to put any more work on the mods and/or Saint than they already have on them. They do a great job as it is.
