Hey,
I'm looking for GAME TITLES (i have roms) that are good at a party. I found the game "Multi Champ" which is made up of a bunch of minigames which is perfect. ;D
But I need more game titles that are good to play at a party on my arcade machine. So far the 'party game' list is:
- Tapper
- Multi Champ
- Bubble Bobble
- Snow Brothers
- Neo Bomberman
PLEASE ADD YOUR THOUGHTS AND TITLE SUGGESTIONS! I really want my arcade to be a hit at my next party, just looking for the best party kinds of games.
MINIGAME-BASED games like Multi Champ are perfect too!
Thank y'all!

Anything multiplayer
'88games
track and field
the multitude of horseshoe (shuuz in particular) and bowling games.
My friends take turns with fighter games, winner stays, next person takes losers place.
Many of the PC games (look in the sticky thread).
-
"Anything multiplayer"
...like what? ;)
-
If it's a good party, and there's plenty of sherberts flowing .. all games are great. The more lashed you get, the better the game ;D
-
Haha right on! I'm building a bar in my basement as we speak, the plumbing is next.
haven't you had a party and one particular game was played all night?
-
I like to play the variety mode of puzzle bobble 2 aganist other people. The metal slugs can be fun to play through. Maybe some Beat 'Em Ups like Final Fight, TMNT, Simpsons, Double Dragon, D&D:Tower. A few good shmups are 1942/1943, donpachi, dodonpachi, and battle bakraid.
-
Hahaha . Yes! If you get the bar working .. pick something that requires a lot of reaction speed like Sidearms, because it'll be completely impossible .. but the more drunk you are, the more determined you'll become .. it'll be an impossible, but really hilarious situation .. man meets machine .. and loses ... badly eheheh
I agree .. a few good shooters, a few good fighters, Metal Slug .. everyone likes!! You MUST have Space Invaders or Pac Man .. don't ask me why .. it's just in the rules ;)
What about pinball? The later it gets, you might start seeing multiple balls, even when you haven't released them.

the multitude of horseshoe (shuuz in particular) and bowling games.
For sure. Shuuz and World Class Bowling have been two of the biggest hits on my cab so far.
Trackball take-it-in-turn games are all good imo (add Golf games to SirP's list). A hit from the last time I had a few people round was Shoot the Bull (oddly after playing real darts down the pub).
-
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I'm loading those games up right now!!

Don't forget ShuffleShot!
-
Well, any multiplayer games. Just look for two player games :) like all the Neo geo games work well :)
-
Chiller goes over well with most.
-
Michael Jackson game is a real party favorite. Basically to prove he DID have a game written for himself. (and EVERYONE loves the smartbomb dance!)
for a 4 player cab Gauntlet, Simpson and the 4 player D&Ds are great
-
Joust is a classic 2-player that should be on the list.
Go buy the latest PC version of Golden Tee. The Mame versions of Golden Tee are a little too old.
Mortal Combat 3 or some other fighter game where winner keeps playing is a great idea.
-
Michael Jackson!!! Haha I forgot about his dancing fighting moves haha!
I'll look up a newer golden tee, that's a good idea thanks!
-
Uo Poko is loved by everyone I show it to. Fun, Simple game to play, even drunk, as it only uses 'down' on the joystick.
Great game!
-
Awesome I just tried Uo Poko and it's great! Games like that a PERFECT!
know of any others? i'm making a list called "good party games" that ill post on here once it's a good list.
-
Don't Forget Mad Donna!!
BTW what are some other adult games?
-
hmm i must not have Mad Donna. what is it?

A Pacman Ripoff that rewards you for finishing a round with real pics of naked women!!
-
Haha I know see why you call yourself GameDork. ;) ;) jk

If you've got a 2600 emulator going, I'd suggest Human Cannonball. Years ago, all my friends and I would play was Madden and RBI on the Genesis, and then Human Cannonball on the 2600. A great drinking game. Just bet shots or swigs, or whatever on whether you miss or not. I can't remember what variation we played, but I think it may have been where you just control the angle of the cannon. And no cheating with moving the bucket!

Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, Golden Axe, Numan Athletics, Puzzle Bobble

i respect the old games, but i dont see how anyone can consider tapper, pacman, frogger, donkey kong, etc. to be party games! great games yes, but party games? i think not. when my friends come over...and there are like 3 or 4 of us there, they all want to play xmen, ninja turtles, fighters....stuff like that. and yes my friends are all old enough to be brought up in the donkey kong era so thats not it. i mean it would be like "hey theres 4 of us here! lets all gather around my 4 player arcade cabinet and watch me play donkey kong! PAAARRRRRTY!"
-
hotshots tennis and tehkan world cup soccer are good ones. admittedly if they havent played the tennis one before its a tad tricky. the soccer game is picked up almost straight away
-
DK and Pacman are both superb games. Maybe not to everyones taste, but DK is great fun after a few drinks. You have to be very precise with the jumping which is a real challenge after a few bevys.
Another favourite of mine when I have a group over is Soccer Brawl. Simple to pick up and play, minimal stoppage time (due to the total lack of rules) and only 2 minutes per game.
-
Gauntlet, without a doubt, if you have a 4-player CP. Cooperative-competitive games like Gauntlet (Quartet, for instance) always go well.
Super Sprint/Championship Sprint (with or without spinners - joysticks work fine, just like on the C64), Iron Man Offroad Racing, Indy Heat, that sort of game. Head-to-head racing games are always good - I remember pouring coins into Final Lap (and sequels) because of this.
Double Dragon
Galaxian
Pac-Man
Ghosts'n'Goblins/Ghouls'n'Ghosts
Bubble Bobble
Generally, games that have weird end of turn/game sequences are good (especially if they are random), stuff that make people laugh, games that non-experts cannot hog machines for too long always work well. Tetris, regardless of how wide its appeal is, allow people to hog a machine for too long (at least if I play...)

Sorry hulkster, not everyone has a 4 player machine and I also have many girlfriends as well. You think they'll want to play xmen and fighting games? I'm talking a REAL PARTY not just a 4 person weinerfest! ha
Everyone else great suggestions!!!

GAMES FOR NON-EXPERTS. I think this is what it all comes down too. Fun games that even experts can have fun with. PuzzleBubble is a perfect example. :)
My parties don't revolve around my arcade machine, it's just one of the things people do when they're here.
Unless you're hulkster he has arcade weiner-fests hoping girls will just appear and love to play fighting games on his arcade. Right on man good luck with that. ;) haha
-
Super Puzzle Fighter... or as I like to call it - videogame crack.
Guaranteed to be the life of the party and the starter of many heated altercations.

Shuffleshot
Shuffleshot
Shuffleshot
(by the makers of GT if anyone is wondering)
Awesome 4 player game (requires a trackball). Everytime people come over thats the game that gets played right away.

This thread may be helpfull http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=22774;start=msg186188#msg186188 . You may also want to configure a CP viewer. I find that people really like being able to see what each button does (it's a lot harder to try to tell them what they do).
-
weinerfest? hmmm....i'm married...to a woman yes....and i guess i'm the only one who isnt desperate around here and happens to have guy friends. one can only stand so much estrogen ya know.
-
how does me not being married make me desperate? haha! im engaged to be married in january but that's not going to stop me from having other women friends.
do your guy friends not have women? sounds very weinerfest to me having a party of all guys...
-
well i guess i just dont have any nerdy girl friends. most hot girls dont play video games. there are exceptions, but id say 90% of hot chicks dont give a crap about mame.
-
haha! im engaged to be married in january
haha you're engaged to be married in January
-

huh?
-
yeah i missed something...funny that im getting married in january? its going to be great!! i love my fiance cant wait man!
-
"well i guess i just dont have any nerdy girl friends. most hot girls dont play video games."
argh you really dont understand do you. lol. the point of the 'party game' list is for people like this. the hot NON NERDY friends that aren't into video games.
if they were into videogames they could pick their own and know which ones they like. geeze. obviously you've only had weiner fests! you just proved it. ;)
okay okay peace im just playin with ya
-
Hot girls DO play video games. At my parties the most avid gameplayers were the hot girls, the more nerdy girls wouldn't play anthing, but would sit around the cocktails and talk to each other.
Also, most pre-84 classics are poor party games. You know why? I'll tell you why.
Pac-Man. I can go 20-30 minutes on one man, no fun for anyone else.
Galaga (see above for many people) and add the fact that the whole ship captured thing makes the two player game into two consectutive one player games.
Donkey Kong - see Pac-Man
Defender - People either last 20 seconds, or can play forever, not a lot of people in the middle ground on this one.
-
ya man perfect description! ill add that note to the list :)
-
We've been playing NBA Jam a bunch lately when the friends are over. The only downside is that I only have a 2player layout so they have to be on the same team. Unless someone knows how to make it so you can play against one another...

Remap the player 2 controls to player 3 controls just for NBA JAM.

Check the dipswitches through MAME's tab menu. An option for a 2-player cabinet can be found there.

I prefer the term "Sausage Party"....
-
HAHAHA yeah forgot about that one. wienerfest or sausage party either one is BAD. bad bad. married or not your wife should have some friends too. lol ;)
-
Another interesting game for parties...if you're willing to help instruct people is "Ganbare Ginkun". It's all in Japanese, but the challenges are pretty fun to figure out and a total blast to play once you know what to do. One of the "challenges" involves you as a baby cherub trying to aim your "pee" in order to put out a fuse and stop of bomb from detonation. From what I can gather from the animations, it looks like the whole point of the game is to impress girls with your skill or something.
It's an *INSANE* kinda game, but that's the sort of stuff I like. My friends and I have a strange sense of humor.
