Post by: KHAN on August 18, 2004, 02:18:09 am
hi!
minwah told me a link to make a mame.ini for full screen preview of a game and set a custum resolution....

then what about mame.cf?
many options such as sound , skipping etc are same in
both.....does'nt happen any intersect between them....

and how to make an ini file from command line?

ok, rough explainaition.  In the c:\mame folder is the mame.ini file (unless you use dos then it is the mame.cfg).
This holds different settings than the mame.cfg which is in the c:\mame\cfg\ folder.  Before .85 this was binary, couldn't edit it.  This stored info about the game which you set in the tab menu of mame.

mame -cc from commandline makes the mame.ini file.

Then in the mame.ini file it creates change the resolution from auto to 1024x768.
I don't know if you can set bit depth and refresh rate though.

Why are we talking dmame?  You're using Windows right?

Either way, 'mame -cc' creates mame.ini (WinMAME) or mame.cfg (DosMAME).

                     MameWAH
MAMEWah is an ArcadeOS inspired frontend for DOS or Windows M.A.M.E. under Windows 98/ME/2000/XP.  MAMEWah is designed to hide the Windows environment and also to be controlled purely by arcade controllers like the great HotRod, X-Arcade or SlikStik. Or perhaps you've built or want to build your own.
Originally intended for just M.A.M.E., multiple emulator support is also now supported.

i wonder.........what the hell is going on......
i know to use mame.ini in mame32 , but
i am using a dos version , command line version/dmame...
because a command line version of mame require a front end for easy usage.........It's alright that mameWAH is for both dos/win mame.....

it is quite easy to handle mame.ini....
but i am using at this time a command line dos mame.
the reason for choosing dos mame is,  fast and better
perfomence......
does mame.cfg able to set my monitor screen into 1024x768x16 with 75hz refresh rate....
this is a fullscreen preview in windows mame by using mame.ini----
but what about mame.cfg ???
no improvements......

does windows mame or mame32 [with mameWAH] use a support of directX?

I think you are a little confused...

While you CAN use DOS MAME with MAMEWAH, I do not recommend it.  I do however recommend Windows commandline MAME (get from www.mame.net) - note that even though it is commandline based it is not DOS MAME!

So I am a little unsure what version of MAME you are actually using.

And to be honest I am now totally unsure of what you are actually trying to do  ???
