Hello
I have installed mamewah from a fresh install and now are running into troubles. :(
I have read that there was a problem on some pc's that you needed to do the regsvr32 paintx.dll to get the snap images to show up.
But this did not work either for me. :(
Although it does work in screen saver mode !
The mamewah is standard 640x480 ...
any help please?
Also trying to get a mame logo to display ? How can i add a logo image now .
In the older version you had to enter some code but i cannot remeber or find what i did in the eirlier version's.

have you downloaded these?
http://mamewah.mameworld.net/downloads/layouts.zip
my logos and snaps wouldnt show untill i download the above. need to extract the folder into your mamewah folder.
hope it helps

I dont knw seems that i'm one lost puppy...
Just a shame that Minwah doesnt have earlier version to download too.
:(

If the images show in the screensaver then paintx.dll is registered OK (this is only usually not the case if you copy MAMEWAH say from another PC, rather than installing it properly).
Sounds like something else if wrong. Have you done what akira suggested? Also, read layouts.txt - how to get logo's etc. to display is in there.
BTW the reason I don't offer old versions for download, is to prevent (many) questions from users of old versions. It could be quite a headache!

Got the snap shots working and logo using that setup program.
works a treat...
Thanks

I have similar problem but completely opposite. All of my snaps show up when I scroll through any of my lists, but only 3 or 4 of them are shown when the screensaver kicks in. All I see is the MameWah logo, except for 3 or 4 snaps.
Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks
btw, I am using the latest Mamewah 1.51 on a win98 pc.

Wierd...are you using more than one type of artwork?

Nope, I only have one snap per game and they are all in png format.
I can't remember but I beleive that I downloaded them from the mame32qa website for the mame games. For my SNES games I created them myself through zsnes.

Are you using a non-standard layout? If so, is your one type of artwork 'Artwork #1'? If not, try changing it to #1.

Actually I am using your 800x600 layout that you included with the program and have not changed anything in it. I tried it with the 640x480 and the same thing is happeneing.
Its really no big deal to me, I still think your program is awesome.

I can't think of anything else to suggest :-\ I think another user had this same problem, using a custom layout - but when I tried it it worked OK for me.
???

Hey tk_42_1 did you ever get this problem fixed? I have the same problem as you. I've tried everything and it's getting a bit frustrating >:(

Can you post your <emu>.ini file (the one that lists the artowrk directories and the emulator settings for MAMEWAH)?
Edit: Had a thought.. Is there a case sensitivity issue? Are you sure all your PNGs have lowercase extentions?
I don't know if MAMEWAH is case senitive or not...

Minwah,
I kind of wondered that myself: How does the screensaver slideshow pic which images to display? Does it go through your gamelist and pick the artwork associated with the selected game?
If so, is there any way to make a change so that it will only stop and display artwork for a game IF there's artwork to be shown? (just be careful and catch when there's no art in the artwork directory at all!). You know, so I don't keep ending up with a blank screen during my slideshow screensaver..

In theory at least it is already pretty intelligent. From memory, here's how it works:
A 'dir' of the 'Artwork #1' folder is done,
The result of the above is compared to the romnames in the currently selected games list (images which exist with are not in the current list are ignored),
The remaining images are randomly displayed.
So, you should NEVER get 'no image' displayed, for Artwork #1 Image at least. If you do, then they must be blank images rather than no image (CrashTest has a lot of blank images for non-working games - I don't like this personally and remove them).
As the 'image list' is based on the artwork_1_image_path, it IS possible that you can have no image displayed in Artwork #2-10.
The filenames are not case sensitive.
It is possible that there is a bug somewhere, as the way it works (above) does not explain why the problem in this thread seems to occur for some users. That said, I have never seen the problem firsthand, so it could be user error.

Oh, I think my marquees are my artwork #1 and my snaps are my artwork #2, which is apparetnly why the blank screen happens for me. I'll verify this this weekend and make a note of trying to get this problem to surface on my machine.

Yeah I should make more of a point about the #1 thing, it is pretty important...I do always mention it to those having probs tho (look above...).

I also just noticed, not only do about 75% of my MAME snaps not show up in the screensaver, but the ones that do show display the wrong Rom names with the image. And my other 4 emulators I have set up still don't show anything during the screensaver, just roms names. If anyone figures this out please post your info!
