My tab button for in game options doesnt seem to work.
Did it change to another buttton like the F2? or am I missing something in the configuration files?
I remember it use to work for a old version of Mame.
Another quick question.
I know we can use Joy Left, Joy Right to represent the 'OK' when any rom is loaded. BUT if there is a error/warning msg like vert flip not supported, the 2nd 'OK' the joy doesn't work. So how do we get pass the screen by using only our CP?

Wow, a "Delete the cfg/defalut.cfg file" answer! I thought these would be less frequent. Note that you'll lose all your global input changes
Actually, if you just need to save the other changes and don't mind getting your hands dirty, you can edit instead of delete. Find UI_CONFIGURE and change the defseq back to "KEYCODE_TAB NOT KEYCODE_LALT NOT KEYCODE_RALT".

Not for all games. If you could make a list of the games that have this problem and post the problem and list of games over at mametesters.org forum, that would be great.

I wonder why this is?

You now have to mess up one more time than before. You need to press enter (UI_Select) one more time after accidentally pressing tab (UI_Configure).
Actually, it's easier than what it was for one u version, umm 0.84u4 I think. That one had the UI controls way at the bottom of the general input menu in the UI.
But even the extra press neeed can cut the number of times it happens quite a bit (or maybe not). [shrug]

Well, WTF are people in that area of the menu anyway to not know they changed it?

Its a install from a mame32 .84 on a new PC. Didn't mess with any menu. Next time, just shut your piehole.

Come on Sirp. Tell me that you have NEVER EVER had to delete your old default.cfg once...

Dude, don't get so defensive. I wasn't making a negative comment, just woinding why. It's been a long time since I have been in that menu. I see why now, it's the first option. SO people will go into the menu, hit enter one too many times, then hit esc to try and get out but actually clear the input for the menu. I thought it was down by UI_Cancel. I forgot it was the first item on the menu.
No, it can't be from upgrading or installing mame. No cfg files come with it.
Jakobud, nope, I use ctrlr files so I am hardly ever in the input menus.

They're not there intentionally.
And it's very easy to do with the hotrod/Xaracde/slikstik default ctrlr.
Accidentally press the UI_Configure (aka "tab") button combo. Then press P1B1 (the remapped UI_Select, aka "enter") twice (three times now) before spotting you accidentally pressed the UI_Configure "button". Then press UI_Cancel (aka "esc"). Now the general UI_Configure is mapped to nothing. If you don't fix it before exiting the UI, sorry you can't enter the UI to fix it. It's easier with these three controllers in the heat of a game with those ctrlr files because these three have coin1 + start1 mapped to UI_Configure (aka "tab").
Almost as easy with the default mapping, a keyboard, and someone who doesn't know all the buttons yet (ie: noobie, your friend, or your kid).

All it takes to clear out the Config Menu key.
Tab
Enter
Enter
Esc
Esc
Esc
Yeah, that's easy to do. Many, that sucks.

Starting with 0.85 there's an extra Enter, otherwise you're right:
Tab
Enter
Enter
Enter <-- added step
Esc
Esc
Esc
Or, just as bad,
Tab
Enter
Enter
Enter <-- added step
funny button combo
same button combo
(Assuming standard defaults)
