I installed MAME32 on my new pc that I am putting in my cabinet and have had problems.
MAME32 ver .82 through .84 work fine on all my other PC's but does not on my new Athlon 64 3200+. The program loads fine and displays all my ROMS. However when I select a game to play the screen flashs and then goes right back to the main screen.
I tried noname's version of mame32 with odd results. When I select a game with nonames version the game loads, I type OK and then I get sent back to the MAME32 (nonames version) again. However, I see another window has been loaded and if I alt-tab over to it I then have my game screen and can play.
Has anyone seen this before? Is my new PC to fast for MAME32?

I have the same cpu as you, But I'm using the commandline windows build of MAME. I have no problems running games, and everything play fines(exept unplayable game, and the 3D games that would take a 10Ghz CPU) Try mame instead of mame32 and see if it works.

I have tried the command line version of mame and it appears to work just fine. I have been using mame32 because it is easier on the wife and kids to select and play games and easier on me to set up than having to setup a seperate front end.

I use Mamewah, once it's setup, it's a charm to use. You select with the joystick and hit the button then you play. I find it easier to use than mame32, and it's way prettier with a good skin.

I've had this problem when I tried to run certain games with with the "Direct 3D" selected. Also sometimes certain configurations/ settings in the "advanced control" menu will cause the same problem. Many times certain settings that worked for one computer may not work for another.

I have tried it with and without "Direct 3D" selected. In fact I have been through most of the configuration options 1 at a time to see if any setting would help. So far no luck.
