Sounds like your ROM Path may not be correct. Otherwise the 'ROM Folder Only' method would have shown your romfiles...
-
odd, now when i refresh, it gives me a runtime error 13.
(and it doesn't change the screen resolution back-very annoying)

oh nooooooooooooo!
most of the peoples are worried because of no games shown in mameWAH or list generation problem.
I also have got this wonderfull problem... ::)
as before i use other front ends, were quite successfull.
i hear about mameWAH and first time install it.
currently using dmame84 with mameWAH0.97.
according to the given instruction,
i created a DAT file from commandline and used romfolder vs DAT file list generation mathod....
i also verify emulator exe and rom folder path.
after refreshing,no gamelist found....... :P

I am not sure what is goin on with this...seems to work fine for me.
My advice is to wait for the next release and use the new List Generation Method(s)...
-
I was recently getting the runtime error 13 myself.
The cause of it (for me, at least) was that I had my list generation method set to "ROM folder vs. DAT file", but the dat file was not where mamewah was expecting it.
In my particular case, it was because I was using mamepp.exe, therefore mamewah was expecting mamepp.dat, and mine was called mame.dat.
First try setting mamewah to just use the ROM folder to generate a list, and see if that works. Then, make sure you have a properly named dat file in your mame directory, and try again.

I did all that. Nothing shows up ever.

Well, I'm quite new to mamewah myself, but I would suggest deleting your files folder in your mamewah directory, and starting over from scratch. Deleting this folder will mean you have to re-enter any settings you've created.
But once you've deleted it (or just move it) open mamewah, and it will create a fresh set of files. From there, make sure that you point it at the proper mame executable. Then set your list settings to ROM folder only, and do a refresh. This much should work for sure. If it doesn't you're pointing it at the wrong location for mame.
Once you have this working, make sure mame.dat is in your mame directory, switch your list settings to dat file vs rom folder, and then refresh again.
If that doesn't work, you might have to find someone more familiar with mamewah than myself.

It works better, but if I change it to "rom folder vs. dat file" it gives me the runtime 13 again.

To get mamewah to start without the error, you'll have to delete the filter files (extension .ftr) from you Files folder. Then, we'll have to try something else to see what causes it for you.
In my experience, that error meant that mamewah could not find my DAT file. Tell me a couple of things:
1) what is the full path (including file name) set for your mame executable in mamewah ?
2) what is the full path (including file name) of your dat file? It should be in your mame folder, and have the same name as your mame execuable, except with the .dat extension instead of the .exe extension.
-
Yes, I have done all that.
I can get it to start fine, but it crashes if i change it to "rom folder vs. dat file".
-
right. Like I said, that means that your dat file is either not in the location mamewah expects, or not named correctly.
Answer my two questions above, and I can help you troubleshoot.
-
I know the paths are set correct in mamewah because mame starts, and my mame.dat is in the same directory as mame.exe, but if you insist...
1) "D:\MAME .85\mame.exe"
2) "D:\MAME .85\mame.dat"
Does that help?

Try a path like d:\mame\mame.exe instead - ie without the '.' in the folder name...
The datfile is named correctly (as per the .exe).
