Im planning to build an arcade control panel. Im new at this but after looking around a bit I think I would like to use Happ Controls' joysticks and buttons (two joysticks and six buttons each). I would like to know if there is some european sites where I can buy that? So I could save a little on shipping...
btw. Im planning to use a keyboardhack and I have read alot about how to avoid ghosting and such but I was wondering, if a keyboardhack also limits how fast you can tab buttons...I would imagine that keyboards werent made for people to press the keys super fast like you would do in some arcade games.
Hope some of you can help, like I said Im brand new at building these things so any more advice you might have is very welcome

I'm from the Netherlands, but I ordered my parts from US or UK based internet shops. I'm thinking about ordering some HappControls items from their european site (it's on their distributor list (http://www.happcontrols.com/distr.html). And I will try to see how much it will cost when ordering from E'Coin (http://www.eurocoin.demon.nl/) (the Benelux+German distributor for HappControls)

Happ controls have a warehouse in the UK, I got stuff off them delivered to Dublin quickly and hassle free

BTW, you really should invest in an i-pac control interface. You'll save yourself a lot of time and end up with a much better solution anyway. You could even buy your joysticks and buttons from Ultimarc so you could get the whole lot in one order. The save shipping costs might pay for that i-pac.

Ultimarc's joysticks, buttons, keyboard encoders and even trackballs are top-notch quality, not to mention the fantastic ArcadeVGA card (go get yourself a nice old SCART TV to go with the ArcadeVGA!) :)

thanks...I never thought so much of ultimarc before because they seemed sort of expensive compared to Happ and not very much better. But if I can save a lot on shipping maybe that doesnt matter s

Ultimarc is fine, but maybe a little expensive. I live in Skandinavia. I had a lot problems with happ europe: online ordering does not work, prices were much higher than the dollar price in pounds and shipping cost was something like 40 dollars.
It was much cheaper to order from e-bay. There are couple of sellers selling Happ joysticks and buttons. For a packet of two joysticks (Happs super) and 12 buttons I had to pay $42 + $13 shipping. Delivery time was 5 days.

Don't. I have tried hacking keyboard and pc pad. Then I bought I-PAC. It is really worth the money. And support from Ultimarc is great.

I understand that people like the I-PAC, but what is it that's really wrong with keyboardhacks?...is it only that it takes a long time and is hard to do? Because I dont mind that.

ipac makes interfacing joysticks/buttons to PC easy - plug and play!
given the time it saves over making a keyboard hack it is a bargain - or even get the minipac and also get trackball support
also look at the tstick plus joysticks their 4/8way switchable
also agree with previous poster get a ArcadeVGA and SCART TV for an arcade perfect display

You should perhaps also consider buying parts directly from the manufacturers, two of which are based in Europe.

Are you sure that's possible? I thought they didn't supply to individuals. I tried Suzo a while ago, but they never gave any reaction. I even own a company and still they ignored me.

I understand that Suzo's Dutch head office is a bit funny about dealing with individuals. But I've ordered parts from Suzo's UK branch with no problems at all.
