Hello all.
I am using the Q*Bert CPO artwork from the library as the basis for my "Q*Bert Arcade" Mame machine and I have a few questions before I start altering it.
First off, when I download and import it into Photoshop as a Photoshop file, are there any benefits in going over 300dpi or is that more than enough when printing?
Who does the best quality custom printing? I want the overlay to of the same material as the original.
When I am finished tweaking it, is there anyone on this board that I can send it to to check it out and make sure its ready for printing? Any Photoshop/Printing Gurus?

Since no-one who is really knowledgable about this stuff is responding right away, I will try and point you in the right direction. You will want to modify it in Adobe Illustrator or another program that handls vector graphics. Vector graphics is the format the qbert cpo is in. You don't need to worry about dpi with vector graphics as things are drawn mathematically and not with pixels so you can make it as big as you want with no quality degredation. Even if you havent used illustrator before you will likely be able to pick up enough to modify something like you want. Download the trial version and just get it done before the 30 days expire.

If you have the option, make changes with Illustrator.
If you plan to use PHotoshop, 300 DPI should be fine. People can argue til they're blue about DPI, but generally 300 DPI "at size" is considered industry standard.
If you want the overlay to be almost exact, I would recommend going with a reproduction if you can find it. To most people, however, a print of this from a source like classicarcadegraphics.com or mamemarquees.com will do the trick. The price is about 35-40$, and it will feel like an original CPO. Also, if you use classicarcadegraphics, or mamemarquees, just let them know that you are inexperienced, and ask them to make sure it's ready for printing... they probably pre-flight the file anyway, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
