Title: Can I use a Standard TV?
Post by: PinoyArcade on August 10, 2004, 02:43:34 am
I know this has been a topic already on the Monitor section....but is there a best way to use a normal TV instead of an arcade monitor for a cab ( pc board using jamma)

thanks

You might want to do some more digging around in this forum. This topic has been covered quite throughly.  ;)

if you are in europe go for a TV with RGB SCART input and get an ArcadeVGA graphics card from www.ultimarc.com this will give you an arcade perfect display ( for standard resolution games)

also check out oscars site http://www.oscarcontrols.com/ for arcadevga screenshots.

Yes you can use a standard TV.   However, unless you are in Europe and have one with SCART in, the picture quality will be lower than a monitor.

If you cannot get a SCART TV, I would highly recommend one with component or S-Video, and a TV out video card that can output Component or S-Video.   Using composite or RF will result in very low picture quality.
