Hello all,
I am trying to make a MAME cabinet on the cheap and I was wondering what would be the slowest processor speed(P3) that would run games perfectly smooth on an arcade monitor thru an ArcadeVGA?
I just need the classics to run at full speed(Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Frogger, etc) Pretty much nothing made after 1987.
Thanks for the help!

I ran a 450 with no problems.

I don't believe you will have any trouble with those games on any P3. Should actually be fine with a P2.

See my post from last nite here called "P166 vs Cel366" Using AdvanceMame though and an off the shelf old PCI video card.
As the previous poser said, with that set up, you should be able to run the classics on a least P2/Celeron technology starting around 266/300 MHz at full speed. However that assumes you are drawing at low res, from DOS without the overhead of Windows and video card drivers and scaling and etc..
