Post by: chrisinauz on August 09, 2004, 12:38:37 pm
Im just wondering if the following will be enough to play most MAME by MOST I mean the highest game I wish to run would be Marvel vs Capcom or Metal Slug, up in that range, nothing more... just wondering about the RAM will that be enough for WinXP Pro??

I would add more ram 128mb in Windows XP is going to make your system run slow. I have 512mb in my XP based system.

I don't like running WinXP on any less than 256mb of ram.  That being said, I HAVE run XP with 128mb of ram, and it performs reasonably well all things considered, especially if you take some time to get rid of the bloat and the unnecessary animations and "XP look"

I would search eBay or computer forums for a 128mb stick of ram at least.  You could probably get 512mb for around $50 or less if you look as well.

You can also do a Google search for XPLite it will knock out a ton of the misc crap you do not need in a Mame machine. I do however agree strongly with getting 512 ram it just makes things run that much smoother. I am utilizing a 1.2 system at the moment and it works great.
