Thanks to this web site and Lucid's arcade flashback, I made my first cab. It was a lot of fun to build, and gets a lot of use at my office where it now lives. I recently put in a trackball and installed advanceMenu (under Linux).

of course my DSL connection at home picks now to go down. sorry 'bout the link, but it should be back up soon.

LOL ok I will check out when your ISP gets back in working order. I am very excited to see how it turned out. Congrats and hopefully I will be joing the "I completed an Arcade crew" Soon ;)

yeah I tried it just now and got nothing. From the single pic you have it looks pretty cool. I like the gloss black finish.

Very nice. I like how 'clean' it looks. Simple and clean, that's how I like it...
-
first attempt or not....thats a nice looking cab. is the artwork original or made by somebody else?
-
me agree, lovely cab!
-
Again, sorry about the busted link. Should be back in a few hours.
The cab is all black because I prefer the 'clean' look. Clutter annoys me ;). The yellow box image is the logo of my company, because I knew it would be in the game room at work. The coin door and controls are from Happ, and the i-pac and opti-pac boards are from ultimarc. The 2.25" trackball is a recent addition.
It's 3/4" MDF, a very high-quality gloss black paint, and t-molding from t-molding.com.
I have an entire build log with pictures on that web page. I've been fighting with my ISP today, though. Argh!

Am i seeing right?! You're hanging a floor lamp from the ceiling??
-
I love the cab! Do you have any photos showing what it looks like with the CP off? More specifically how the CP attaches to the cab?
-
Looks great! And I defintely respect anybody who runs Linux on their cabinet.
-
Good job very slick.
-
Here's another picture of the control panel after I added the trackball.
-
Helloooo! Ceiling lamp question....!
-
It turned out great, I like the control panel artwork.

Looks good, but why not a different color for the buttons? Yellow probably would've looked nice if it matched your company's logo.
-
I simply love the simple design of your artwork. Great job bud I hope my full size comes out to be as nice as yours. Great job!

Love the panel nice and clean.

Nice, that cab looks really clean, and I love the basic black.
-
Nice and clean looking! Well done :)

I read through your site but no where did you say what size monitor you used. I'm just curious. Is it 21"? Again Nice cab.
-G
-
Yes, it's a 21" monitor. We had an extra one at work so I just used it. I would like to have used a TV instead, but I didn't want to break the bank on my first cab.
My next project will be a ms. pac-man / galaga style cocktail cab, and I plan to use a TV for that one. Perhaps even a real arcade monitor if I can work up the courage to install something with no case like that ;).

Very nice and understaded. Good work.

Cool. I'm using a 21" as well so it's nice to see what it's gonna look like. Thanks for the info!;D

And here's the new marquee that I'm having printed by classicarcadegrafix.com....

Helloooo! Ceiling lamp question....!
Yeah, I wanna know about that lamp, too.

A little negative gravity and everyone gets all in a bunch.
No, seriously, it is a floor lamp, but the base broke one day, and we figured it was a perfect lamp for the foosball table. A little fun with wiring and voila!

There, was that so hard? ;)

Here's the latest pic with my new monitor bezel.

Welp, I'm not crazy about the cab design, but I do give you points for being different. It's certainly unique and still professional looking.

Looks good to me. You need some black admin/player buttons. ;D
-
Too much bezel.....not enough monitor :'(
-
Yeah, I know, I'm just using a 21" computer monitor. I'm looking around for a cheap-ish TV to use instead, but for now, it'll work.
Hey, it's just my first. My next project will be a cocktail cab (four-way stick, trackball, one or two buttons only). I'll definitely be using a real display device for that one.
-
Beautiful. How did you affix the plexi in front of the monitor?

There are six small screws (three on each side). You can see them if you look closely. That way I can remove the bezel and get to the monitor easily if I need to.
For example, when I get my act together an get an actual TV or arcade monitor instead of the computer monitor I have in there now ;).
