Hello everyone. Thought I'd finally join. Want to start a cabinet project and from what I'd read the mini-pac seemed the right encoder to me, but I can't find it on the Ultimarc site. Is it no longer available? Am I missing something? Thanks for the help.

For some reason it's not listed in the site. You can directly access it here (http://www.ultimarc.com/minipac).

not on main page:
http://www.ultimarc.com/minipac.html

Thanks guys. That worked great. I wonder why you can't access it from the main site? Seems he's missing out on buisness. Thanks again guys.

The mini-pac has always been directed at companies who want to make batches of controllers for resale, not for the consumer (as in us). Thats why its not linked directly on the webpage.

The explanation I've always heard was that the mini-pac was designed more for system builders, but AFAIK it's available to the public.
I thought it should be on the main site, but it's his website.

The Mini-Pac is still available...I purchased one about 2 weeks ago.
Try either:
http://www.ultimarc.com/minipac
or
http://www.ultimarc.com/minipacUK
(First for international pricing at the bottom of the page, the latter for UK pricing...)

Here is what Andy told me:
"The Mini-PAC was originally designed as a product for OEM builders of control panels and cabinets, but there is no reason not to use it. Many people building just one cabinet are prepared to put in the time hand-wiring the controls, which does give a neater final result, but if building 20 cabinets this can get a bit time-consuming!
So the choice is yours really, the Mini-PAC is more convenient, and smaller."

Someone was asking if it had mouse button support

Yes, it has support for 2 mouse buttons...

A more likely explanation is simply that Ultimarc's website is woefully out of date. If you look at the description of the T-Stik plus Ball-Top under the controls section is says "only available in Red, other colours to follow early Feb". Well there are now 4 colours available and Feb was 6 months ago!
I agree with maxstang. I think Andy's missing out on potential business by not promoting the Mini-Pac properly.

4 colours? really? ...what are they? (I'd only seen them on the website, so as you said.. I only knew about the red)

Go to the USA ordering page and you'll see that 4 colours are available. However if you go to the UK page only red appears to be available. Weird eh?

if you go to the minpak UK page you will also see the "Coming soon in Feb 2004" option for the Minipac VE with 36 inputs..

I agree with you that the site is out of date, but I was just quoting what Andy told me himself about the mini-pac being aimed at oem builders instead of consumers (but it doesn't mean consumers can't buy them).
