Title: sensitive centering grommet? or something else...
Post by: telengard on August 22, 2002, 02:30:02 am
I've got a WICO ball handle leaf joystick.  It's working great, but I noticed when playing some games
when I let go of the joystick  while in one position it would trigger the other direction.
For instance, holding it to the left and letting it go would trigger a 'right'.
I have since bought a perfect 360 kit  just to try it out and it  also works great but also has the same issue,
even maybe a little more sensitive.  It is very noticiable in games like Tetris and Pac-Man.

I'm wondering since it's a new joystick maybe it needs to be broken in a little?  If so any techniques?
Any  other ideas?

thanks

From what it sounds like, you are pushing a spring centering joystick all the way one way and wondering why it snaps back past center some.  This normally occurs.  You could try a heavier spring.  The heavier spring would also make it harder to move though.

If it has leaf switches you could try bending these away from the center a little bit more.
