Title: Lots of artwork for sale in ebay auction
Post by: patrickl on August 02, 2004, 10:46:11 am
I saw a huge artwork deal on ebay a few days back. Aparently it contains hundreds of items. This might be a good group buy for the vectorization process.

I'd contribute $60.

The price is at $91 right now.. I bet it goes WAY higher.

OK, I'll sign up for $60 too. Can do more if needs be though. Maybe we shouldn't discuss this in the open :P

I was wondering about the price too. I assumed this would be up to a fortune in no time. I guess I saw it first 5 days ago and now saw that it still was below $100. Then again, the pictures show only a few pieces, maybe the rest is crap.

For the vectorization library it would be a great catch. Vectorizing a scan is a lot less work than piecing together pictures and vectorizing that. We could even sell the stuff again when were done.

He mentions Galaga in the auction title, but I don't see anything related to that in the photos.

Also note, it looks like ALOT of this has not been stored very properly. (Rolled up in a beat up cardboard box--That causes the edges to rip, warp, bend, etc...)

Alot of the unrolled ones look really wrinkly.

If it's vinyl that will flatten out easily. I purchased a Galaga kickplate (which was wrinkled/curled) and I put some books on it for a day. Came out perfectly flat after a day or so. I'm more worried abotu if there is actually anything usefull in the collection. It might be 390 stickers and then the 10 pieces of artwork which are actually shown.

The Galaga reference is what drew me to this auction, couldn't find it in the auction either.

In the end it went for $296.09 to segtekcorp. Too bad Markito didn't win it since he often has pretty good deals. This segtekcorp doesn't even sell items so I wonder if this is someone from a printing service maybe?

I went up to 120 myself. Had I noticed that Patricki was in for some, I might have gone a few hundred higher. Oh well.

Aish, I meant to reply with some cash too.  Totally forgot  :-\.  Well, if another comes up like that please contact me if I miss or forget again.  The library is really looking great.  More is better!
