Of all the friggin' dimensions to end up causing me trouble, who would've thought height? >:(
The top back corners of my TV are catching against the support wood (2" by 2" strips) under the speaker shelf. Does anyone know what kind of tool I could use and in what manner to get into a cramped corner like that and cut some wood out?
Removing the braces isn't an option because they're glued to the sides, and returning the TV isnt an option because I've had it for too long already.

A sharp wood chisel should do the trick.

Or you could decase your TV making it look better and be much less bulky. If I ever do a Mame with a TV I will decase it in a minute.

seriously though, you can get small hand saws that might get in there.. but i would think a chisel would be the best way to go.

Also you said top BACK corners, right?
Well, depending on what you are defining as "top back", well, there probably isn't anything but air in that area of the TV case, you could cut a bit out of the case easier than the cab.

Seriously.... the back and front are the only parts of a tv that are full, so I wouldn't reccomend cutting unless you take the case off first.

If I can't be trusted to measure the height of my cab space vs. the height of the TV then I don't think I can be trusted to take the case off. :-\ Seriously, it's good to know my limitations I think.
I don't know what a rotozip is. I figure it's a power tool, probably operated with one hand if it'll fit in that space, and held over my head in an awkward position means a good chance of kickback or slippage resulting in damage to the cab or to me. Sounds worrisome.
Chisel like hammer and chisel? Would that get rid of wood first or dislodge the glue and screws first?
Still, chisel might work. Little handsaw might work, too. My girlfriend suggested whatever it is people use to whittle but that could take forever.

Consider a Dremel. It's a small power tool, roughly a little bigger than a round hairbrush, that holds a bit like a drill. Try an abrasive bit (some look like cylinders with sandpaper aroud them, some look like rough stones). The abrasive bits are good when you want to take a little soft wood (pine, mdf) off. They work slowly enough that you can't get into trouble quickly, and if you slip you won't put your eye out (always wear googles anyway).

Don't people just whittle with a pocketknife? I don't think you wanna start rubbing away at that wood with a pocketknife, heh
I'd say a dremel is a decent idea. They actually make reciprocating saw blads for them as well so it can be used as a sort of pseudo RotoZip. You can use those blades and just push the side of the blade right into the wood (as opposed to plunging the tip of the blade into the wood) and it'll create a little notch pretty quick for ya.

Hmmm, this sounds a lot like the problem I had except mine was *slightly* different. My speaker support strips were sticking too far out the front of the cabinet...

How I solved my problem was by using a router with a standard bit. If you have screws near the spot you need to cut you'll need to do a little bit of work to get them out but thats probably you're best bet.
After routing and sanding the area where I "cut" my speaker support strip, you can't even tell there was ever anything there!

No one probably remembers this old thread, but in case anyone did, this is how I finally resolved it:
First I went out and bought a slender handsaw that I figured I could use to saw off some wood and then later it would handy for sawing the marquee retainer and the t-molding. It was insanely useless for the wood sawing--I mean really, really useless. It would only sort of rub up against it like a horny old man, meaning well but not getting anywhere.
So I put it off. For the month of August I did pretty much nothing for my cab.
I want to paint it this weekend so first I decided I needed a resolution to this problem. So I took the foot off my jigsaw and just went to town on it.
Long story short, the TV fits now but the jigsaw blade snapped off during my last cut. The useless handsaw was able to crowbar the last chunk out.
