I picked up this working Dual Vs Nintendo Cab this weekend. It
-
I don't think that is an original Dual Vs cabinet. I know other games used a simular setup. A Vs cabinet would have a control panel that looked like NES graphics (the grey and black from the controllers).
That's sweet though, a cabinet like that, working, is tough to find. Not much use for it other then a few games. You could make one side mame, the other side jamma and start collecting PCBs :)
Or one side horzontal and one side vertical.

Its an original Nintedo cab. Its got the placard on the back from Nintendo and it looks just like the one from the klov and the flyer. I think someone just put the new overlay to cover the old one. I haven't torn it off to check what is beneath yet.
Or one side horzontal and one side vertical.
I thought about that. That had me tempted to MAME it.

Could you take measurements and send them to Jakobud? I see that he has a VS cab on his page, but no Dual Vs.

to quote paigeoliver in another thread:
"The single best idea for a dual monitor cabinet I ever came up with was this.
Two identical cabinets side by side, each with 8-way, 4-way, 6 buttons, trackball and spinner. Run by a single computer so that they acted as a single cabinet with player one on cabinet one, and player two on cabinet 2.
It would support pretty much everything, without cramped panels, or being cramped up next to the guy next to you."
i think that would apply quite nicely to this baby!

These cabinets are very rare, for obvious reasons... they are frikkin huge! But I think they are quite nice. Also they look nice as-is.... no need to mame. Those cabs use a standard vs cpo with some sort of angle cap at the corner if I'm not mistaken. If you can find a seller with some nos nintendo stuff you shouldn't have and trouble restoring it.
Also I don't think the sticks or buttons are orignal either, but I can't tell from the pic.
Nice find! keep us posted!

The sticks and buttons are original. (Its even got the little conical buttons for p1 and p2). Its just the CPO makes it look not original. The buttons need to be replaced but the sticks work fine. I've looked on ebay for the overlays or even whole control panels but the only ones Ive seen so far are for the unisystem.

I'll take some measurements when I get home tonight

That would be a really cool 2-4 player cab. Put player 1 on one side and player 2 on the other.
-
I've got one blank Vs. control panel with overlay- no sticks, buttons, wires. I dunno if it's from the single-wide cab or if it's from a double-wide like yours. If you get measurements from your panel, I'll compare to mine.
If I had it, I'd go with a vertical/horizontal MAME setup...

If its from the unisystem it has the p1&p2 start at the top and are regular size buttons and if it from the dual systemthe p1&p2 start are in the center and are the small conical buttons.

Poop. It's the single-wide, then- Sorry.
-
I wouldn't restore something like that. Those cabinets are way too generic even with all their original parts and artwork.
