Um.... Zenith did not make the monitor. Zenith made the picture tube itself.

Look for another model number sticker with a name like Wells-Gardner, Electrohome, etc. on it.

If power is getting to the monitor's power connector, then the monitor circuit board is need of service.

If the soldered-in fuse on the monitor board is not blown the board may need a capkit. This chassis is well known for bad solder joints too.

The service manual for the 4900 series may be downloaded free at mikesarcade.com

If the fuse is blown you may have a shorted horizontal output transistor and/or flyback transformer. Check the B+ voltage. Is it too high? Too low? Right where it should be? Get your high voltage probe out and check the high voltage. It should be between 19,000 and 24,000 volts.

If the high voltage is where it should be you might have a break in the foil on the neckboard.

The "Black Level" control on the monitor board is in reality the brightness control. By chance it isn't turned all the way down is it?

The "Screen" control over on the flyback may be turned down also. It can be considered as a coarse brightness control. So if it were turned down too low you wouldn't see a picture.
