Title: My first negative feedback on Ebay

I bought a Galaga bezel from a dude on Ebay, but he only accepts money orders. So I got a money order, but work hours prevent me from getting to the post office to buy stamps or mail it or anything. I took too long and he left negative feedback.

Now I have 10 positives and 1 negative. Will that hurt?

Not really. It won't keep you from winning any auctions.

But could hurt you if you were selling....

I just got my first one as well. I bought an item emailed the seller as soon as I bought it and never got a reply, 10 days later this crappy feedback shows up saying I never contacted him and not to trade with me, aarrgghhh. What a loser!

How many emails did he send you before posting the negitive?

Did you leave negitive feedback for him?

I don't have any negative feedback, but I don't have as much positive feedback as I should.  I bought from a couple of fairly large vendors, and they never left me any feedback at all, even though I left some positive feedback for them after I received the merchandise.

I actually think sellers have this whole process backwards.  I think they should leave the buyer positive feedback as soon as they receive payment.  Why wait to see if the buyer leaves them positive feedback first?  They have what they want already.  And if the buyer later tries to unreasonably return the item or something, the seller can just post a negative to cancel out their earlier positive feedback.

The thing is, eBay actually teaches its PowerSellers to NOT leave feedback until the buyer does.  At the point where you are a PowerSeller, it doesn't really matter anymore if you get positive feedback... would you buy from someone because they had 4851 feedback instead of 4850? Of course not... so they wait until you leave feedback and then give it to you (at least some do)

Then there are ppl on eBay who just refuse to leave feedback.... I just don't understand those ppl.

I dont have as much feedback as I should either :(

I bought a playstation game.. went to the store got a money order, mailed it...  waited got an email saying he got his money... waited.... waited... contact seller, said he would track it.... waited....waited... contacted seller... waited... waited... no reply... left bad feedback, lost my money, didnt get my good feedback or my game.. wtf i paid grrr

If he only takes MO, use www.bidpay.com, now www.auctionpayments.com, it's a service from Western Union, I've been a user ever since it came out. I haven't had any problems with it!

It's really fast !!! and you don't have to go to the post-office.
The only charge you a small fee, so it's worth it

I never leave feedback for a sell if they haven't left feedback for me...

Leaving feedback takes to much effort, if someone leaves positive feed back for me, I get an email saying positive feed back was left, I click on the link in the email, and it sends me to the feed back page, if I was happy with the transaction I can leave a positive from that page.  Otherwise I don't leave feed backs.  I haven't had a bad transaction, so I never had to think about leaving a negative.

I've had lots of transactions, but I only have 7 positives.  I don't care, because buyers don't look at how many feedbacks i have, and I don't plan on selling on ebay.

I think this all depends on how you see the feedback process.  I don't see it as just feedback on receiving payment, but rather on the entire transaction.  I don't necessarily use it as leverage to make sure I get good feedback, but there are too many bad buyers out there just as there are bad sellers.  I try to go out of my way to make sure buyers are happy, but some people just can't be satisfied or they just don't read.  They, in my opinion are bad buyers and their feedback should reflect that they are a lot of trouble to deal with.

Also, some power sellers (due to the high volume of auctions) actually use an automated system of feedback that only sends it out when the buyer receives feedback

*UPDATE* I got ahold of the seller and they said they reposted the item but would pull it if i send the money order via overnight delivery. However, they can't take back the negative feedback once it's posted. If I'd known about this www.bidpay.com in advance, though, this never would have happenned!

They can take it out if you go thru the SquareTrade system.

Its' not worth it for you, IMO.  It'll cost you $25, and you've got a FB rating of ten.  And if you never sell anything, it really *is* no big deal.

And you can respond to feedback as well, FYI.

at over 22,000 feedbacks, I always leave feedback the same day I send items out after receiving payment. I have a lot more negatives because of it, but it's just easier, and as many other people mentioned, it's the way it SHOULD be.

I have over a 99.1% feeback ratio, good enough for me (and almost ALL of the negatives are things that could have been fixed if I were e-mailed first, or things that were BLATANTLY listed in the auction)

I'm not bigtime like Sylentwulf.

I always maintain contact with buyers and sellers until the transaction is done.  If I sell something, I send a thank you.  When I get payment, I send a thank you.  When I ship it, I tell them how and what it looks like, and when I think they have it I ask them if they liked it.

When I buy something, I tell them I paid for it.  I ask them if they shipped it.  If I think it takes too long, I ask them if they have a problem or if they know when I should get it. When I get it I send a thank you note.

I'm irratating like that.

I had one transaction that went bad with an arcade machine, but no harm done in the end to either of us.  He didn't want it afterward, so I didn't ship it.  I sold it at a traditional auction.

I have 100% feedback on all my transactions. People Like warm fuzzies and nice polite emails.  Plus, I like to see how people use my stuff I sent.

Yes, I just hate it when I buy from someone and they keep me updated through the entire process. :)  All it does it make me want to buy from them again (and again...).

Dont worry about it, Ive been on ebay a while and i got a nasty neutral from someone once tellin me i was nasty and rude, but no one cares, as long as you have the positives to back it up. If you are really worried, whenever u sell something put what the problem was in the item description so people know, and then reply to that persons negative and apologize.
