Hagen Automaten Mag Joy 88

Anyone seen this one before? Google didn't know anything about it. It uses magnets instead of a spring, is this common? I don't know much about joysticks but haven't seen one like this before. It seems it has never been used, don't know how old it is. The language on the box is German, in case someone wouldn't recognise.

It could be what they call a "hall effect" joystick.
If so, they are considered rare and expensive.

Could it be the joystick for Poly Play?

From the looks of the switches at the base, I would guess it uses reed switches, that are triggered by the proximity of the magnet in the actuator.

It also looks like it has a rotating restrictor to go from 4-way to 8-way.

If I'm right, the functionality of it should be very similar to a Perfect 360.

A Hall Stick uses magnets, true.. but I don't think this is one.

I think this is more likely.

I saw something a while back about a magnet stick on the Industrias Lorenzo site.  Unfortunately, they are rebuilding their site right now, and I can't find it.  The pear-top/spacer handle assembly sure looks like the ones on Happ Supers, which are made by IL...

It has regular microswitches, nothing special. I bought it because it had a restrictor plate, though have now noticed that it works better as a 4-way.

Also, what are the springs on the sides for?

gonna guess stick stiffness..tighten the screws and the joy gets a stiffer feeling, loosen the screws, and it get's sloppier..
