Title: Removing side art?
Post by: krion on July 19, 2004, 11:02:15 pm
I recently purchased a cab with Vigilante art on the side.  Its not in bad shape, but Im not really interested in having it on my finished restoration.  I have 2 questions...

1>  Is the art worth saving?  I mean, does it have value to anyone?

2>  Im not too concerned about the monetary value of the art...  What is the best way to deal with it?  Remove it? (If so, how?)  Or just paint right over it?

Thanks

1. Vigilante was a mediocre game even for its time, so it's value is next to nil.

2. Side art is near impossible to remove without at least stretching portions of it.

So do yourself a favor and just rip it off without a care.

Still wondering what to do with the side art.  Should I just paint over it?  Or is there a somewhat easy way to get it off?  Thanks

scrape it off and peal it off until it is all gone.

If you paint over it then it is going to look terrible.

If you are taking it off, then you need to take it all the way off, and make sure not to leave any goo behind.

I HAVE actually managed to remove sideart and overlays relatively undamaged in the past, but it is tough to do so.

Use a hair dryer to heat the decals then it's easier to pull them off.
