Just trying this FE tonight, planning on using it in a cocktail table I picked up this weekend.
A couple of questions for those who have used it...
- Is there an option to rotate your screenshots or do you have to spin them all manually and save
- I'm running it under WindowsXP and after selecting a game and exiting a game there is a long wait during which the windows taskbar appears and a command prompt action pops up on it. It's like it's flipping back to DOS mode. Is this what's happening and how can I get rid of this annoying delay ???
-
If I recall correctly, that is something to do with "de-bug mode" .
I could be wrong though, there is a small FAQ/troubleshoot thing on it's main site.
I could also do with some help with Game Launcher in general.
Is there a solid guide/walkthrough anywhere?
I really want to use GL but I'm running into all kinds of problems.
-
Knievel - I use GL on my cocktail and have run into only a few probs that were quickly fixed.
What sort of probs have you got?
Knievel - sorry cant help with this bit, I dont use screenshots.
-
Pakchooi I did try that debug mode and it didn't help. That main site has very little info, I've yet to find a tutorial.
I've got it running fine now except for the delay problem so I might be able to help you.
Darksoul are you running GL under DOS? The only real problem I'm having is the delay when I start/end a game. I'm thinking it's because XP doesn't have a 'real' DOS mode.
Maybe I will have to put Win98 on my machine to get rid of the problem. I'm only using it for Mame so it doesn't really matter to me.
The lack of info on this great looking FE is annoying to say the least >:(
-
Are you using the DOS version or the Windows version?
-
Windows...but aren't they both DOS based?
-
No. Dos based and 'commandline based' are two different things. Just because you open up a command prompt in Windows and are doing stuff in there, doesn't mean you are in DOS. Its just the same as Mame for Windows. Its a commandline based program, but that doesn't mean its for DOS.
When you turned on the debug mode, did you look through the log files it generates to see if it prints out any useful information in there?

Appreciate the help Jakobud.
I turned it on again and here's what it logged...

Try running a game and getting that 'delay' problem to occur. Then paste in the log from that and perhaps it will reveal some command or something that is taking an abnomally long time to work.

Ya well that log was taken when the problem occured so that's not going to help I guess.
I'm thinking it's a resolution issue now. I tried good old MameWah and when I select a game the monitor gives one click and the game displays.
When I choose a game in GL the monitor clicks once, long delay, then 2 more clicks. So it seems like it's jumping through different resolutions or something?
I'm REALLY starting to hate that clicking sound >:(

I'm sure I had your exact problem on my first installation of GL.
I did get it resolved but I can't remember what I did (sorry I'm not helping here am I ?)
I'll load it up again when I get home and try to replicate the issue.
My mame box doesn't have internet access so if I do get it resolved I won't be able to post untill about the same time tomorrow.
