I am looking for an empty cabinet to use for a project. It doesn't have to be in the best shape. It just needs to be something that doesn't look like it was taken out to a saw mill or found in a trash heap (just needs to be a sturdy upright cab). Thx :)

Where in MD are you? I'm in Silver Spring / Rockville area along with Abrannan. There are a few good sources for cabinets close by. You can try Capital Amusements on Southlawn drive in Rockville, Or you can go see LLoyd in Hagerstown at the Coin Op Warehouse (C.O.W.) www.coinopwarehouse.com (http://www.coinopwarehouse.com). I just gave 2 cabinets away in trade for parts recently.
There are also Auctions that happen around these parts 2-4 times a year in Baltimore and PA.
Expect to pay anywhere from 0 to 100$ for a decent empty cabinet.

I live in Frederick, Maryland.

If you live in Frederick you should DEFINITELY go check out the coinopwarehouse...they have a ton of game cabinets...I'm sure you could get a cheap cabinet there!

You should certainly make the trip to see Lloyd @ CoinOp Warehouse. I drove there yesterday all the way from Philly. Went home with a Pole Position II, Missile Command cocktail, and a Pac-Man cabaret. Lloyd was awesome to deal with, and I will be buying from him again in the future.
The second floor of his warehouse is full of cabs in various conditions. Lloyd will take care of you if you want an empty cab, and he is VERY reasonable with his prices.

I'll jump in here. I can't say enough good things about Lloyd and his family - they are great to deal with. He's very helpful and as others have said his prices are very reasonable. If I lived in Frederick I'd be there every Saturday he's open, just to wander around and play some of the games in his showroom. Just be warned - he has so many interesting machines at good prices you may end up coming home with more.
I started just picking up a Battlezone, and on the way out of the warehouse I bought a Vindicators that caught my eye. During one of his recent sales I purchased a Root Beer Tapper and a Road Blasters via e-mail. My wife, amazingly, has not divorced me. I'm nearing the capacity of my half of the garage (I also have another BZ and an empty Buster Bros. cab destined for MAME) so I'll have to stop for a while...at least until the basement remodel is finished :)

I doubt I will leave with more than I had planned on getting. I am building on a very strict budget. I may cancel my HotRod order if it's still backlogged in two weeks (it will have been five weeks since I placed the order. I am starting to get impatient >:().

If you are on a tight budget why are you getting a hot rod? Just buy a cab with the type of controls you want and buy an encoder (IPAC or keywiz have been getting good reviews). Then when you save up some more you can buy more controls, and maybe do a second panel for your cab.

ooo la la! the pics show some ms. pacman cabs!!!! i'm going to have to make a trip down there!!! now let's see, my sister and mother can go shopping at the hagertown outlets and i can look around there. now all i have to do is persuade them to go shopping (which is never very hard ;D )

Wow. How much did he charge, if you don't mind me asking? I will be near that this weekend, wondering if it is worth the extra 2 hours... both ways.

I've gotten a painted-black Pac-Man cabinet off of LLoyd at C.O.W. for 50$. I have also gotten a nice 4" trackball and Star Trek Spinner from him each for 10$

I looked into that and found that eventually the costs would equal that of a HotRod. I am really starting to get fed up with the HotRod though.....they are still backlogged ffs.... >:(

I just want to say that Lloyd has to be one of the most professional, most reliable and friendliest salesperson I have ever met. Anyone that can get to his warehouse should! I started to wander around and couldn't wipe the big grin off my face upon seeing all these cabinets ;D I bought a REALLY nice Omega Race cabinet from him for $75 and he delivered it to me in Frederick for $25 in the same day @_@ He basically drove from Hagerstown to Frederick-roughly a thirty minute drive both ways. I am very impressed. My Dad and I plan on heading over there again next time they are open. It is well worth the trip :D
Once I finish this Mame cab, I want to build a Mame racing cab. Can you guess where I am gonna go to get the cab? :D

I guess TNT Amusements in Philly is too far?
