Well, I think I am finally done with my whole "buying cabs" craze that I have been on the past few weeks. I finally got 3 solid cabs and now I have to decide what to do with them all. LOL.
The first one I got was a tempest cab. It was stripped bare except for the coin door.....which is pretty much broken anyway. So the only thing going on for that cab is the sideart, which is decent. I dont know what I am going to do with that cab yet.
The second cab is a Space Harrier cab. It is fully functional. I was playing it earlier. Coin door works, marquee lights up. Sound is good (only 1 of the 2 speakers work). All in all, it is a very good cab. The controls could use a little TLC, it is hard to move the controller to the right while in gameplay. Other than that, its a fully functional can that it unique. Monitor looks good with no burn in and bright color. awesome.
The 3rd cab used to be a street fighter 2 cab? I am not sure, but that sounds like a safe bet. This is definitely going to be my first MAME project cab. It is near complete cosmetic wise. All it needs is the computer and a monitor of some kind.
I can't tell ya how much it sucks to live on the second floor. LOL. I am going to regret bringing them up here when I gotta move out......Well? What do you guys think of my apartment now? ;D

Mame the heck out of that Street Fighter cab. It's just a generic Dynamo. Heck, give it a new CPO and monitor, and you're good to go.
Space Harrier? Clean it up and leave it as-is.
Tempest? Good luck finding parts. Might want to offer it up for sale on RGVAC.

I have a Tempest cab that is gutted too. I plan to buy a marquee and CP Overlay, an Oscar Spinner with Tempest knob, a couple of Atari cone buttons and "restore" it to a Tempest. But really it will have a PC inside. SO, I will be able to play tempest, tempest tubes, arkanoid and any other spinner games. But it will look like an authentic Tempest. Trying to find all the real parts is near to impossible.
Maybe you can do something like this with yours?
Definatley use that Dynamo cab for a MAME cab! - 25" TV or monitor!
Best of luck! ;D

Who's that in the giant poster on the wall?? ;)
-
I think it's a poster from J-crew or Abercrombie???
-
They Make posters now? Either way, good job on the cabs

Personally I'd make the Dynamo cab into my horizontal cab for fighters/Williams/etc. and use the Tempest cab (touch that artwork and I will come there and take it from you!) as is but stick a vertical monitor in it for the real classics. Space Harrier would be a great dedicated game...although you could probably get it running Afterburner too...

BTW I am looking for a Space Harrier Deluxe in the UK or Europe to purchase for a restoration project they are now Ultra Rare. If any one here has any information which will help me find one please let me know.
Thanks
