ok i went and made me a midway type cab with a 27in wells d9200 arcade vga, ipac, and opti pac. well i got it all hooked up today was real ancious to get it running and i started the comp only to realize that when i got into the front end...Arcadeos that the comp froze...weird but can happen so i restarted. then it did it again...argh wtf i used the comp last night with a keyboard...no ipac and it worked fine. i thought mabye it is the optipac so i unplugged that....problem still. i cant quite figure it out everytime i try to get into Arcadeos or mame it freezes after launch. but in dos i can make the buttons go forever. Im using the default mame config on the ipac athlon xp 2600 running windows 98 se but boot into dos only...if i unhook the ipac i can get my keyboard to work fine running the games....help please
ok i have windows 98 and when going into windows and trying to play mame32 it works. it wil lnto work in dos???

I never used Arcadeos before, so I could be way off base here. I'm wondering about the I-Pac you have, if it's the older or newer version? The older version I think had dip (jumper) switches and the newer ones don't. Are you using a USB cable? If it works fine in Win98 SE then I think it may be USB if not then it sounds like it's a dip switch problem, check it. To run your I-Pac in DOS it has to be a Serial device using mouse drivers.
The reason I ask is if you are booting into DOS, the one that came packaged with Win98 SE, then USB devices will not be recognized. With that in mind if you use the pass-through on the I-Pac then DOS will not find a keyboard. If DOS doesn't find a keyboard then your comp will freeze. DOS needs a keyboard to run, the mouse is optional.
I don't know if this helps you any or if you allready knew this, but I'm surprised that no one has ofered you any help.

accually it is a ps2 model and i bought it eariler this year in april or may. i can run a dos box from windows fine. i can even use the keyboard through a pure dos but when it loads up to mame or arcadeos in pure dos it freezes....this isnt my main concern anymore as i can run off of windows. my main concern now is my d9200. the setup i have is mame and a arcade pcb. now i have tried everything but when i have a pcb hooked up if i dont have the vga cable hooked into the port on the monitor the video on the game will shift at the top of the screen but when the vga is plugged in i get a weird little buzz noise. not loud but dont know if this is good or not?
