I am gearing up to build another cabinet for a friend. I would like to put a real arcade monitor in this one, except I would like a flexible monitor like the D9200. However I am scared to death with all the failures we have seen on this board over and over and over and over... it never seems to end.
I recently contacted WG about the massive failure rate and got a response from a sales rep saying that their initial failure rate was high but it is now down to a level equal to their other proven products.... hmmm i dunno...
What good alternatives can you guys recommend? I may end up just putting a TV in this thing for simplicities sake... I dunno. Depends on what you guys can tell me. There is some Betson Imperial 27" Multisync monitor in their catalog I am also looking at. However I haven't heard of anyone actually using that one.

Wow... i guess the lack of responses gives me my answer... guess the D9200 really does suck and there is nothing better.

This question has been asked before and: no, no-one has found a monitor that does what the d9200 does. There are some other trisync monitors but either they don't switch automatically from one type to the other or no-one has tested them out yet. Not being brave enought to potentially waste hundreds of dollars to try something else I got a d9200, hasn't broke yet. As long as they are working they are awsome.

Yes there is an alternative made by wei-ya , it works from 14" to 38" CGA / EGA / VGA Auto switching between resolutions and freevoltage ( no iso needed ) , I recently used one of these on a 29" Toshiba tube in a daytona , absolutely amazing picture ! http://www.weiya.com.tw/monitor/p8.htm
Rodotron also make a tri res monitor it is the CH266 series http://www.rodotron.com.tw
Also Kortek make a 6 resolution monitor CGA / EGA / VGA / SVGA / XGA / UXGA for 21" to 38" look at the KT-xx14 series

Yes, but where can we buy one of these?
In the US? or someone that will ship single units to the US.
Thanks,
later,

Jomac,
Wondering if any of those save the settings for each resolution type (horizontal size, position, etc) like the d9200 does. If so then it would have the same features.
-
If the Kortec one is auto switching and saves settings for each res I think this may be an awsome option..
mmmm MAME games in native res followed by a quick game of Tiger Woods in 1280x1024
Someone pinch me
EDIT *** Damn, just read the specs again no XGA or UXGA but offical support for 800x600, still would be a nice monitor. Are there any distributers here in the US or any idea on cost.
-
Wow... There offices are just around the corner from me...
May take a trip this weekend and see what I can find out. i will post any info I get.

The model I mentioned from wei-ya doesn't save the settings between resolutions but they do have a full digital version with OSD and memory , it works from 15K~38K Model Number C2938
.
As for where to purchase these things I would suggest you contact them and ask where their distributors are. I think if they ship here to Australia I cant imagine anywhere else being a problem.

Hmmm interesting... The Kortek US office is in Sparks, Nevada, with a Sales rep in Las Vegas and a certified Service Center also in Vegas... I think I'm gonna look into that monitor...

Look in the slik stik forums http://forums.slikstik.com/index.php?showtopic=265
this question was addressed there. Also, as I recall the Kortec monitor is sold as a Betson Imperial. Other options are NeoTec and the Hantarex Polo Star. But really look through old posts here, at Mameworld, slikstik, and go through march through june daily news on retroblast. You'll save a lot of time trying monitors that don't cut it.
Wish I could be more help, but at least this should set you in the right direction.

Anyone have any experience with the 27" vision pro from happcontrols? It is rated for 800x600. Cost is about the same as a D9200.
-
HI,
I checked the Happs site and the VisionPro supports the following resolutions:
640 x 480 31KHz 60Hz
720 x 400 31KHz 70Hz
640 x 480 37KHz 75Hz
800 x 600 37KHz 60Hz
...no 15 frequency, not sure about saving setting across resolutions either. It would make a good 27" VGA/SVGA monitor but without support for native arcade resolutions you may be sacrificing authenticity.

I own a D9200, which I love. I thought I'd try to VisionPro, so I ordered one from Happ. The monitor had pretty bad convergence problems. I told Happ and ther ewer every cool, and sent me a replacement (cross-ship). The second monitor was better, but still had the same problems. Luckily, Happ took it back. I think I may order another D9200. Mine has been rock-solid for a few years,

How much of a visual difference will there be running a game say at 800x600 using hardware stretch on an arcade monitor as compared to original resolution?
The scanlines and other qualities of an arcade monitor should be there.. but how would the actual picture look?
It would be nice to have the 800x600 for PC games.. but at the same time is it worth having it if a D9200 at native resolution would look much better than a vision pro at 800x600.
Does anyone have any screenshots of an arcade game running in native resolution, as well as a hardware stretched resolution on the same monitor? IE you could run pac-man on a d9200 stretched to 640x480.
