If we want to get some competition going, we should get a baseball league going at http://www.simdynasty.com .  (I wrote the play-by-play engine for that site, hence the blatant plugginess of it... :) )

Baseball would be fun, but the season is half over.

Nothing can compare to fantasy football.

It's not fantasy baseball... it's a baseball simulation, so it runs year round, and you keep and build your team from year to year.  In one league I'm in we started in 1950, and it's now 1982... (We go through a season every two months.)

I just joined....  how many teams are you allowing for the League?

I kept nearly all settings, except a couple scoring options, as Yahoo defaults.  The league will cap out at ten max, or until the draft deadline approaches and we decide to just go with what we have.

Would we have to draft, or could we set our preferences so that Yahoo does it?

I just signed up! And I know practically nothing about American football, so I'm pretty much guaranteed to win.  :-X

I want to draft.

That way if I lose it's not because of Yahoo.

Plus it takes some skill to draft your own team, ie: sleeper picks!

You can always pre-rank your players....I almost always end up with a better team than I would have normally drafted, since no one else pre-ranks theirs, although now I just let the cat outta da bag  :P

Dr Salami is ready to rumble!

Anyone else up for another league, I'm down for that one too.  ;D

Question on the scoring, since I'm figurin you'll read this board first:

No points for passing attempt?  or   why points for the other attempts?

and what the heck is a (under positions listing) "BN"?

JoyMonkey, just do what women do...pick the guys with the prettiest colors on their uniform!

Let Yahoo pick our teams... as it makes it fair to the "non" die-hard football fans.

BN means bench players.

No points for passing attempts because qb's like Rich Gannon, who pass 50 times a game,  would help you walk away with the title.

Yeah, a passing attempt isn't nearly as important as a reception or a carry.  Hell, I used to be a QB and I say that is the case.

I dont have a clue about american footbal, but its going to be fun. I'm going to let Yahoo draft for me, cause i would not know a line man from a kicker... (well thats not true, but I'm sure you get my drift).

In the UK we only get 1 game of NFL a week, so I have a STEEP learning curve.

As long as it's the Green Bay Packers, you guys  don't need to worry that you're missing anything  ;)  That's the only team you need to know anything about...learn to love 'em, and I may just invite you on over the pond to catch a game with me some day...Lambeau Field...nothing like it, it's truly a sight to behold!

I'd say leave it on, so that those players who want to give drafting priority to certain players are free to do so, while those who don't will be given the top undrafted player available during the draft.  It allows people to take a gamble on a player they fell will have a better season this year than they had last year, or on a rookie who they feel is undervalued at this point.

Yeah, preranking has to stay.  It's the only way for people to influence who they get in the draft with autopicking.  If you don't want preranking then just don't change the prerankings and you'll get what you would have gotten without it.

What, are you some sick twisted Bears fan in disguise?!   ;)  If you're a Bronco's fan for real, I gotta hand it to ya, that was a dynamite game and you guys earned that win.

If you're some commie Bears fan, or, worse yet, a ViQueens fan, go crawl back under the rock you've been hiding under.

Drew...check my profile.

Bronco fan through and through!

Sorry...just have to needle any Packer fan I come across.  We got that privilege when we snapped our "Four Bowl Big Losing Streak" on your beloved Pack.

I will say...I don't mind the Pack, but I can't stand any other team in the NFC North.  Especially the Lions.  For some reason, I really hate them.

Now they were a pretty good punching bag for my team, I kinda like 'em  ;)

Please, somebody take the final spot.  They won't let us draft with an odd number of teams.  C'mon, it's not like there's any money on the line...  Yet.
Title: Re:BYOAC Fantasy Football: ONE SPOT LEFT

The worst case is that I take that final spot myself or perhaps find someone outside of BYOAC to take it.  We will be able to play.

You could also wait for a little while because the draft is a few weeks away. Plenty of time left.

The season is a few weeks away, the draft was some time ago.  Anyway, I intend to wait until about a week before the season to take some action.

The league now has ten teams.  I have set the autodraft to ready, so be sure to get your prerankings in before the draft date if you wish to change the defaults.

Pray for no preseason injuries.  At least the draft was completed *after* Ricky Williams retirement announcement.
