Title: Jukebox question
Post by: old school gamer on July 11, 2004, 05:27:52 pm
I am considering building a jukebox. Maybe a replica of a Wurlitzer bubbler. I was wondering what is the correct name of the lights that go around the jukebox called?? . They look like colored plastic tubes...but that doesnt help me find them on a search of the net. ???

They are called simply, "bubble tubes" and you can buy them straight from the source www.victoryglass.com

Thanks Ken,I went to the victory glass site, but they have no pics of the bubble tubes they sell, all they have is a part number and price. I would hate to buy anthing "blind" like that, any suggestions??

One thing you might want to look at when I was looking at building my jukebox I found out that there are fake bubble tubes that are designed for PC case modders.

Either that or I know that bubble column lights were all the rage in wal-marts "funky light" section a year or so ago (the kind you can put the fake plastic fish in) perhaps you could incorporate a couple of those somehow...

These don't actually bubble, though.  They are hard plastic.  The plastic just has air pockets (bubbles) in it.  That's not to say they wouldn't look good.  I just wouldn't want anyone to think they were liquid filled and actually bubbled.

Just a thought...if you have the plastic covers, maybe using some rope lights (the "chase" ones) underneath might give a similar effect?

Contact Victory Glass and ask them to email you photos of the bubble tubes used on the Wurlitzer model 1015.
