Well... it was bound to happen sooner or later (altho I'd have preferred not at all)....
This morning, I went to turn on the cab and killed the PC.... power supply died and I fried the motherboard :'(
looks like my project is on hold indefinitely now

RATS!
What kind of motherboard do you need? Maybe someone here has one laying around collecting dust. Is it a budget thing? Do you have anything worth trading? The only ones I think I have are old old ones for HP desktop 486.

It's an HP Pavilion 6633C.... and don't worry about it.
Over the past 4 years, I've learned that HP products (mostly the PCs) aren't worth the hassle... I'd be better off building a custom PC anyway... one that handles all the games I like playing with no trouble.

No problem
I agree HP is no good. I've had more things bust on pavilions at work than other brands, though we do have more HP than anything, still seems unreasonable.

Yep... just wish I hadn't bought 4 of 'em....

How does a PS failing, fry a mobo?? If the PS just went poof, odds are your mobo is fine.
Edit: If you're in or close to NJ, I have plenty of spare PS's laying around.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'm just going to build a system for the replacement.... I've had nothing but problems with the HP line of PCs for a long time.
Might take me a while tho... living on a budget makes spare time projects kinda rough to afford.

When PS fails, there's usually a quick surge.
I once lost a harddrive to a failed PS.

I havent found any problems with my HP machines, mechanically. My XP effs up a bit though... But I blame that on microcrap
