Title: Lazarus Problems: Runtime Error 453
Post by: Magnet_Eye on August 15, 2002, 06:59:53 pm
When I launch Lazarus, and hit the tab key, I get runtime error 453. Then it crashes. When I restart Lazarus for second time, then I get no error, and it works.

???

Also, I can't get lazarus to find any games. I pointed it to the correct dir for the roms, but it never finds them. Question is: I have my roms in a different dir then MAME. this is becasue i have mame32 and all roms are in there. Is this causing a problem? I have all the paths for Laz setup correctly. No dice!  :'(

Go look at the site with the news blurb about the 453 error.  And also run the runme bat get the vb runtimes and the scripting files.  If you are using 98 turn off the xp menus.

You need to regenerate a gamelist first, not rescan for roms.  You need appropriate dat files for each and every emu you wish to support.  You also need to setup filters in the dir.ini file.

I DID do the getlist first. and I DID runme.bat also. Oh, and i DID setup the dir.ini file..
still problems..

i'll look into that 453 and turning off XP. then see what gives.

thanks!

PS_ Damn, this FE is more complicated than any i have ever used, WHAT GIVES?

i went to your site, and didnt see anything about the 453 error. I made the changes you said, and still get "No Games Available." crap. I don't see what the hell is going on. Too much to deal with at this point.

BAH!

Umm you have trouble following instructions don't you.....  for xp menus it says XP/2000 ONLY .....  If you have it turned on and your running 98 then you WILL get an error.

No offense but this sounds like a 1-D 10-T error to me... This is by far the easiest mulit-emu fe to setup period, and that's not just my opinion.  Read the entire manual, twice, and then see what you messed up.
I don't appreciate you blatently berating my fe in public.  If you don't have anything nice to say about it then keep your big trap shut.

The nerve of you making such a negative comment after I took time out of my life to try to help you out. I wouldn't mind if you said that you didn't prefer it on some other post, but it is extremely rude to disrespect me and my fe when it's a tech support thread.  Try to watch your manners next time.

What? Are you serious? Someone needs a hug. All i said was that it is difficult to setup, and that is just MY OPINION MAN. I don't see how this is "blatently berating" your FE.

You are either lacking self esteem or having a bad day. I can't believe you are so offended by a simple comment. I was not bashing your FE. I simply said it is "more compicated than any I have ever used." How do you see this as negative? I can't state my position and feelings on the program and/or my experience with it thus far? Not to mention it was a harmless statement. In fact, you could almost take it as a compliment. I mean, come on...GEEZ!

I appreciate your help. I would like to try this FE out. I was planning on making a skin for it as well. But obviously the thing needs to work. And I followed ALL your directions, and read the "manual" and it just isn't working for me.

Peace.

I was referring to:

"and still get "No Games Available." crap. I don't see what the hell is going on. Too much to deal with at this point."

You don't deserve any further help because of that comment, perhaps someone else will take pitty on you but I won't.  Good luck to you.
