Title: Question for you ArcadeVGA and non-WG 9200 monitor users
Post by: bwest on July 08, 2004, 11:37:53 am
I am considering using an ArcadeVGA/J-Pac and an 8-liners modified arcade monitor.  My question is this....with this setup will I be able to play medium resolution roms acceptably well and navigate windows 98 for upkeep?

95% of the setup's life will be classics, but Mortal Kombat and some newer figthers will spend time on it as well.

In addition, I would like to be able to maintain the software and setups without hooking up another monitor.

I have read many many posts and cannot really find a definative answer to the above.  I would rather save a WG 9200 for plan B if this doesnt work, as I am spooked about their reliability.

Thanks in advance!
Brian

Don't really know about med resolution games and how they would look.  For Windows the avga can display 640x480 and I believe 800x600 on a 15Khz monitor.  It displays them interlaced which means you will probably see some flicker but it will be good enough for the few times you need to do something in windows.  These modes are actually on the card so you will be able to view your motherboards bios on your arcade monitor, a nice plus for choosing this card.

hope this helps
