Title: DOS sound help
Post by: Raven.. on July 08, 2004, 01:59:07 am
I have an eMachines 766id with the INTEL 82801 AC'97 onboard sound, along with a fully SB compatible PCI soundcard.  Here's the problem:  I cannot get any sound in MAME running under DOS.  It works fine with Win98SE, but not DOS.  I have downloaded all of the drivers I can find, but to no avail.  There is no option in the bios for to "enable Legacy sound".  I can't find any more info, so I am looking for some help here.

Thanks!

I couldn't find any INTEL 82801  drivers for DOS, and although the other soundcard is "compatible" finding drivers could also be tricky.  What's the chipset for that card?

I was having a similar problem with a different chipset, and found that the only way I could get sound (ArcadeOS was fine, but not MAME) was to add an ISA sound card. That solved everything.
