Title: Arcade Monitor Frontend
Post by: Antix on July 06, 2004, 05:59:06 pm
Hi people,

Im using Mamewah as a front end, and I think it is great. I am very pleased with it. Apart from one thing. I cant get it to display on my arcade monitor. I thought I would try powerstrip to do it, but then none of the games work using AdvanceMame anymore.

Ultimately what I need is something like ArcadeOS that is able to switch to the arcade monitor itself. But I would prefer one that runs in windows and one that is still being worked on. ArcadeOS is a bit old and stagnant I feel.

Is there such a frontend? Or am I doomed to be choosing my next game on a PC monitor and then swapping the cable?

TIA
Antix

AdvanceMENU.  Other than that I don't think there are any Windows FE's which can output at low-res, without special video cards or software.

If you can afford it, an ArcadeVGA will allow more FE's to run low-res, as well as removing the headache-inducing setup process for AdvanceMAME...

Oh yeah I forgot about advancemenu :D

Silly me, thanks for the reply MinWah. I cant afford an ArcadeVGA just yet, and, the machine I am using as my mame machine is also in use for other things as well.

I didnt find advancemame that hard to setup... once I had a video card that it actually worked with :D

Cheers

You are looking at the problem wrong..... powerstrip eliminates the need for advance mame as it sets the resolution for all of windows.  Run mamewah and regular mame and you should be fine (at least in theory).
