Title: USB pads to cannibalize?

Can anyone suggest make/model of USB pads that have non-surfacemount encoder chips?
Also where to buy & how much.

I am converting an old stick to USB & have limited space - want to make a new circuit board instead of reusing the pad's PCB. ;D
